I am also looking for information on the Welsh/Welch line in Washington Co., Maryland or Franklin Co., Pa. Moriah or Mariah Welsh was born 6 Aug 1823 and died 31 Oct 1901 near Leitersburg, Washington, Maryland. She married George Valentine Mong (son of Valentine Mong and Rebecca Lower). He was born 31 Mar 1823 near Hagerstown and died 11 Mar 1895 near Leitersburg. I believe he may have been buried at Jacob's Church. I believe Mariah may have been the daughter of a Benjamin Welsh, mother's name not known. Mariah was previously married to a Richard Pennell who died before 1857. He and Maria are buried in St. Andrew's RC Cemetery in Waynesboro, Franklin, Pa. I cannot seem to connect this Welsh line with anyone, but I do know there are other Welshes in my records. I do not recognize the Maxwell Welsh some of you were looking for...probably because I haven't made the connections as yet. If you can help me place either Mariah (Moriah) or Benjamin Welsh with ANYONE, I would be thrilled. I have connected many of my family with some of those whom you have written of recently. Thank YOU! Thanks for those of you who are helping make the Ogle County, Illinois connection back to Washington Co., Maryland. I have a BUNCH of those people on my lines, and appreciated being able to fill in the blanks. I would be glad to share whatever I have with anyone! I am related to half the county, but particularly to Mong, Gardenhour, Barkdoll, Harr, Beaver/Beavor, Barnhart, Welsh, Bowser, and Lower. If anyone knows about Rebecca Lower (Lauer?) who married Valentine Mong, I would love to know about her, too. Judith Hills
There is an entry in the marriage index WELSH, Benj. B./Eliz. B. Gilbert 5/18/1840 but this doesn't match your time frame unless it is a second marriage. I couldn't find anything on your particular MONG or LOWER folks in my resources. I also found some things to consider as alternate spellings in the 1799-1805 newspaper extractions LOEHR LOHER LOHR LOOR Lauren Brantner Judith Hills wrote: >I am also looking for information on the Welsh/Welch line in Washington Co., Maryland or Franklin Co., Pa.
