Carolyn: I see you are in contact with Lauren so you are in good hands, however I noted several thiings that you said. First of all Washington Co., Md. is next door to Frederick Co., but to the West of it., Hagerstown sits within a few miles of the Pennsyvania border from Greencastle, Pa.. Now this is not precise, but generally speaking the frontier at the time of the American revolution was not as far West as you are thinking for several reasons one being that Lord Penn honored the Indian lands and tried to keep settlers out, seconding the French & Indian wars did the same thing and thirdly the American revolution did the samething as the British had their indian allies attack the frontier settlements and many pulled back to safer areas. Their was an American Ranger Regiment over 600 strong which tried to protect the settlers in Va, W. Va., Md. & Pa.and they were streched thin.Under the circumstancse I doubt if you are going to find much info for this period of time for Greene & Fayette Counties.
