Gordon I have relatives in Washington and Garrett Co MD You are taking the exact Routes I travel to Hagerstown when I go to certain parts of WV instead of taking Rte 70 West. I remember before MD I - 70/68 was built. We had to use Old Rte 40 West. I lived in Reisterstown MD in Balt Co. for a while. I know most of the area. Can you tell me what Rte (Indian Trail) you are taking to get to Reisterstown? Patricia: I live off the Falls Rd. about a mile north of Padonia road, so when I got to Franklin Co. where mine originally settled, I go up the Falls road a mile or so to RIDGE Rd. this goes across country to Greenspring Ave and I turn right into it and foloow it down into the valley and West towards Reisterstown where it changes its name to Butler Road. At Reisterstown I get one 140 and take that all the way to Md. Line where it becomes Pennsylvania route 16. Ridge road was a Indian trail and still is it winds across country and has several corkscrew curves in it. You would never recognize Glyndon these days, they have put up some modern commercial bldgs and shopping centers just before you get to the railroad bridge. Resiterstown along Resiterstown Rd is being "upgraded" to make it more quaint etc.You wouldn't want to use the old Rt. 40 West today, it has become a totally black area from city line all the way past Randalstown amd has lots of crime etc. I probably have relatives in Washington Co. as all of those Crooks about 20 some families are all from Robert Crooks Jr. who would be my 5th removed cousin, he and his brother Joseph married the daughters of Jacob Emmitt, the founder of Emmittsburg. Where are you living now ?
