Thanks Joan. We have all the pre 1864 sacramental records for our family that are still in existance. The problem is that many of the RC records do not go back far enough. Our John E. was born (oral history) 1813. The records for the parish which Ardmore is part start in 1814. We also checked the surrounding parishes too. CHAMBERS is not really a common Waterford name. It is found in County Mayo and in the counties of Northern Ireland. English in origins, with Irish origins about 15th century. Now, his wife was baptized in Lismore Parish of County Waterford, those sacramental records, though small in number reach back to about 1803. It all depends on the parish (not civil parish) when they started and how many survive. This is sadly true for all the counties of the Republic and NI. It would great if this was done, Irish genealogy is not easy. Mary Ellen Chambers There might be answers yet. I heard through a friend who does a lot of Irish research that Catholic Church records are now being put on the internet. So far I know only that Co Cork is available, but if Waterford follows perhaps you can find a baptismal record.
