1810 Census – Lower Antietam Hundred – Page 170 lists the following: Nicholas Swope William Smith Joseph Smith Ancestry marriage records show a Joseph Smith m. Mary Swope in 1808. 1820 Census – Ohio, Clermont Co., Washington Twp. – Page 22 lists the following Nicholas Swope Henry Swope ADAM Smith William Smith – does not appear to be same as the 1810 one Does anyone know anything about the Joseph of 1810? Clermont Co. History indicates that the Swopes and Smiths were the first to settle that particular area of Clermont Co.. The History of Washington Co., MD, Pgs 1161-1162, indicate that there was a William Smith b 1801, who married a Nancy Huffer. William was the son of William. William Sr. had seven children listed, including a son named Joseph b. abt 1799 . I’m beginning to wonder if this Smith account has a missing generation, because the names match but not the ages. Was there a 3rd William living in the Rohrersville area and this is the one who went to OH? Any clarity on these names would be appreciated. Thanks, Jim
