Carole, There is no entry for Nathaniel in the Will Index for Washington County 1776-1890. There are entries for Jacob, Lloyd N. Margaret and Sophia - all from 1834 forward. There are Norris grooms in the Marriage index starting with John in 1807. No Nathaniel. In the September 3, 1794 edition of the Washington Spy (Hagerstown) an Edmund Norris volunteered for Capt. Bowles' company of the Col. Thomas Sprigg's Regiment. This is a Maryland state militia unit as opposed to a federal unit. Hagerstown Gazette July 16, 1811 "Surviving partner' controversy involving Matthew Brown; John Frick, Baltimore; William NORRIS; Henry Payson; Joel Morgan; Jacob NORRIS." In 1807 Jacob and William Norris had an ad in the Frederick Town Herald - they were tea dealers and grocers on 64 Market Street in Baltimore. There are Norris entries in the newspaper abstracts from Frederick County. There are no entries in Brumbaugh's Maryland Records vol 1 and 2 for Nathaniel - quite a few for others. There are many Norris entries in Passano's Source Records of Maryland. One family volume published in 1916: Norris Family of Maryland, 1642. T. M. Myers, W. M. Clemens, 1916. ltd. ed. MHS (Maryland Historical Society); Peabody Library. Other locales in the listings are Baltimore, Frederick, Harford, Anne Arundel, Montgomery, etc. There is a pedigree chart for Bennet Biscoe Norris in the Society of Colonial Wars Md. in DAR and MHS. There are many entries in Myers' Family Bible Records in the Hagerstown Wash. Co. Free Library. Nathaniel is not there but these may be worth looking at. Some entries go back to 1780 for a William Norris. Other families intermarried include Heskins, Hawkins, Donavan, Posey, Smith, Deavers, Forrest, Merriman, etc. There are some Norris burials in Vol. II of Morrow's Wash Co Cemetery Records which encompasses Hancock dist. 5. No Nathaniel. There are also Norris burials in Vol. III and VII. Those the only ones I own. There are quite a few entries in Ridenour's Wash Co Md obituary locator 1790-1943, There are several Norris Bibles in the Md. Gen. Council's Inventory of Maryland Bible Records. One location is Anne Arundal cos.; another is in Caroline and Queen Marys; there are two others listed in the Maryland State Historical Society. Your Nathanial appears to be elusive in my sources. I would check land records that are online. A huge Thank You to each of the wonderful researchers who took their time to help with Nathan. The small words thank you just are so inadequate to express my appreciation and gratitude.
