I'm suggesting that you also need to find out the religious denomination of the people who were getting "hitched" and see what churches were on the "circuit" in that area during that timeperiod and then turn to trying to track down the records for the pastors who were on those "circuits". At that time the "records" were usually "owned" by the pastor and he carried them from one church to another. Another source could be the religious denomination archives or holding facilities. If the lay of the land and area was remote, they may have had the blessing of the local people and were declared married, then when a chance arose they would be formally married. Your time frame is prone for that type of thing to happen. > > I am sure others will tell you the same. > > Susi > > ---------------------------------------------------------------------- > > Message: 1 > > Date: Mon, 20 Aug 2012 23:29:17 -0400 > > From: Marilee Cunningham <[email protected]> > > Subject: [MDWashin] Alexander Dyer and Rachel/Rachael Mobley > > > > Does anyone know about a Rachael (Rachel) Mobley who married Alexander Dyer > > in Frederick, MD in Jan, 1821?
