There is both a little pipe and a big pipe and both originate in Pennsylvania up around Hanover, Pa.. They apparently merge and go all the way down to Virginia. 2. Dear Hal, In Schildknecht's Monocacy and Catoctin there is a map dated 1828 which shows the Monocacy and Pipe Creeks joining just north of Woodsboro and just east of Graceham. Don't know if these towns still exist or not. Nanette In a message dated 8/2/2011 8:45:21 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time, [email protected] writes: Lauren, I had not heard of "Wrights newspaper extractions" and appreciate your sending along. Any idea where "mouth of Pipe Creek where it runs into the Moncasy" is located? I had seen the "baseborn child " report before but unable to ID Mary Cyder or the child! Also unable to connect this John Tutteraw into my TUTTERO/DUTTRO... tree but satisfied he belongs there somewhere. How could I access the "Maryland Chronicle" from afar? 2. Blah BlahBlah
    3. Here's a link to a map from Wikipedia (wasn't sure if I could attach it here--think Rootsweb forbids attachments??). Looks as though the "mouth" is about 1.5 miles from Detour MD, a few miles above Frederick (see P.S. below). Sounds like its different from the PA Big Pike Creek. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Monocacy.png Sam P.S. Also from Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double_Pipe_Creek The creek and its tributaries flow through Manchester, Union Bridge, Taneytown, New Windsor and Westminster. The main stem of the creek is formed from the confluence of Big Pipe Creek, with headwaters near Manchester; and Little Pipe Creek, with headwaters in Westminster. >From the confluence, near Detour, Maryland (39.6012°N 77.2703°W), Double Pipe flows west for about 1.5 miles (2.4 km) to its mouth at the Monocacy, which drains to the Potomac River. The watershed area of Double Pipe Creek is 192.6 square miles (499 km2). Tributaries include Bear Branch, Big Pipe Creek, Little Pipe Creek, Meadow Branch and Sam’s Creek. Double Pipe Creek, the portion of Little Pipe Creek west of Union Bridge, and the western section of Sam's Creek form part of the legal boundary between Frederick County and Carroll County. 3. Hal: When I go up to western Pennsylvania I cross "Big Pipe Creek", it runs from North to South and route 140 crosses it, either near the border of Carroll County, Md. or actually in Frederick County, Md..The Moncracy River is the devideing line betwwen the two counties. There is both a little pipe and a big pipe and both originate in Pennsylvania up around Hanover, Pa.. They apparently merge and go all the way down to Virginia. My map is not clear where they might merge, but I would guess it to be around or near Frederick, Md. 3. Lauren, I had not heard of "Wrights newspaper extractions" and appreciate your sending along. 3. Anyone researching or have knowledge of the HERTE family that was at Apples Church, near Thurmont in Frederick Co, MD, in 1771, believed to associate with subjects previously of Adams Co, PA?? The only HERTEs in the Apples church records index is the couple Rutholf and Eva Herte, for which Baltzer Toderer served as a baptismal sponsor of one of their children in 1781, Here are all the records for that couple: Anna Barbara dau. of Rutholf and Eva Herte, b. 22 June 1777, bp. 1 July 1781. Sponsor: Conrath Lechleider. Johannes, son of Rutholf and Eva Herte, b. 6 Oct. 1778, bp. 1 July 1781. Sponsor: Christ. Bincke Rutholf, son of Rutholf and Eva Herte, b. 27 Feb1781, bp. 1 July 1781. Sponsor: Baltzer Toderer Note that all three of these children were baptized on the same date. 3. Hi Ray, I also have been unable to locate any records of Apples predecessor Jacobs/Union Church near Thurmont in Frederick Co, MD. It is probable that some of our DOTTER.., CLEMMER, HERTE, JUNG/YOUNG families were members there at Jacobs/Union after migrating down from Adams co, PA. The HERTEs are also on my low priority "persons of interest" list but have not researched them because I see our chances of them helping us as being slim?? Maybe some day? I corresponded with Ron Dodderer for a decade up to 3 or 4 yrs ago when I gave up on him after hearing annually that he would publish next yr and hearing numerous theories without support. What significant have you received from him in recent yrs? Thanks again for your continued pursuit. Sponsor: Baltzer Toderer Note that all three of these children were baptized on the same date. Perhaps this is about the time the couple became associated with Apple's Church. The name Rutholf (Rudolf) may provide a possible clue. Ron Dodderer thinks that Baltzer Toderer had a possible Rudolf Dodderer ancester. So, is it possible the Dodderers and Hertes were related? The upper Monocacy settlement was the area along the upper reaches of the Monocacy river in which Apple's church was situated, north of Thurmont. In 1760, Peter Apple deeded an acre of land to three trustees to be used as a schoolhouse. In 1768, these trustees redeeded the land to officers of a union congregation which had already been formed by that time, This original union churh was named Jacobs. The first records of this union church, which became Apples, did not start until 1773, and Lutheran and Reformed records were kept in the same church book.. We just purchased a volume of translations of the church records for the two churches in the area in which he lived near Creagerstown. The churches are Creagerstown Union Church and Apple's Church, which was originally located just north of Thurmont. The publication is "Maryland German Church Records, Volume 11" translated by Frederick S. Weiser and published by the Carroll County Historical Society, Westminster, MD. I found Balser in the Apple's Union Church Records. He served as sponsor for the baptism of Rutholf, son of Rutholf and Eva Herte, who was born 27 Feb 1781, and baptized 1 July 1781. His name was spelled Baltzer Toderer. The records are for the years 1773 - 1849. That was the only reference to him. The records for the Creagerstown Union Church are for 1789 - 1863, so Balzer was already in NC when that church was founded about 1787. 3. Anyone know anything about any WILDERS? This is what I really am trying to find more on such as who was Catherine WILDERS husband? Burial record/death record for them, kids names??? I have a Widow WILDERS in Lower Antietam Hundred in 1810 census, then in 1820 census around Boonesboro I have Catherine WILDERS 45+ and one male 16-26, and then a James WILDERS two pages down, I think this is my James WILDERS and he married Catherine JUDY, I also think he is a son of the Catherine WILDERS.............. Anyone have access to orphans court records? Cemetery? Wills? Any and all that would help? I have looked everywhere......... James WILDERS and his family went to Adams Co, and Franklin Co, Pa. Died in Adams county. There was also a Sarah WILDERS (never married) who was in Adams County, Pa. I think she could be a sister of James. Then there is mention of an Aquilla JUDY in Adams County but went on to Centre County, I think maybe he could be a brother of Catherine JUDY WILDERS.........just hard proving all this! HA! HA! OH! James is buried in a Catholic cemetery in Adams County, so I'm thinking they were all Catholic???? Any church records that are available?? Thanks! Sharon in Fl. [email protected]

    3. Yes, thanks, I a quite familiar with it. Sadly, I don't have a direct male line descendant. However I have a great deal on Walkers in WA, some of whom went to Franklin, PA, and then to OH. I think this Sarah is connected and that's why I'd like more info on her and her husband Thomas Hudson.
