Thank you, Lauren. Agnes
I am searching for a record of the marriage of Isaac HARDEN/HARDIN to Mary and/or Catherine NEWMYER, (or any other soundex spelling) in 1787. I have been told it took place in Allegany County but since that county did not exist until 1789 thought perhaps the marriage took place in Washington County from which Allegany was formed. Thanks for any assistance anyone can give me. Agnes Donnelly Penn Laird, VA
Agnes, Neither are listed in Morrow and Morrow's index to marriages which runs from 1799 - 1860. The marriage records from 1776- 1798 were destroyed in a courthouse fire according to Morrow and Morrow so you might have to try church records. Hopefully those with church record resources on the list will give you a lookup in what they have. >How about finding 2 of your 4th great grandfathers as brothers on your Paternal line and 2 of your 3rd great grandparents as siblings, 2 female and one male, on your Maternal line? It's no wonder I'm not normal......LOL Of course all this can be "fixed" by a bit of "wishful linking" in FTM. Just "skip" the offending generation like many of the old genealogies do! ;-) I'm also running into "wishful marriage dates". They are useful in transforming 6 month pregnancies into 18 month pregnancies...or something like that. John Rhodes
I agree.... I have thoroughly enjoyed all these inter-marriages.... it makes me a little scared to try and figure mine out now. I know the Flora's and Stouffers married each other alot. I am only starting those lines. There has been much research done on them and I like to go back and look for more tidbits.... Thanks for all your comments... they make my day! Donna: Sometimes you don't want to go there. I have a cousin 4 times removed who sent me two family branches, family trees, she also mentioned that her husband was a 9th cousin to me. Well I got intruged by this and spent considerable time figuring it all out etc. Guess what I found out. That the husband and wife were also cousins. She didn't speak to me for a while and I was asked not to mention this to other family members! I have two references to lots in Hagerstown and wonder if anyone in the area could look up details of the transfers. Thank you. John M. Rhodes Peter Herr, tailor, bought lot no. 198 in Elizabeth Town (Hagerstown) 11 Mar 1789. (WCDB F:157) 1825: John Peter Herr and wife, Susanna, of Fairfield Co., OH sold 1/2 of lot no. 82 in Hagerstown (WCDB HH:670). Who owned the other 1/2? Who purchased the lot?

Thank you very much for the information. Rebecca
Hi Patsy, As long as you are going in that direction, go to Middletown, Md. where the Stottlemyer family really started out in Md. At the time they went there, it was still Frederick Co. In 1760 David Stottlemyer, bought land from a man whose last name was Fink. I don't know if Leah Spade of Smithsburg is still alive, but she kept records in her home of many of the first settlers to that section of Md. I am a direct decendent of Old David Stottlemyer. My line is Old David, Devault, Devault, Robert Fulton Stottlemyer, Lavina Virginia, Amanda Valetta Wilkinson Doyle, John Andrew Doyle and me Rosalie (Doyle) Siri. Glad to have you join us. Seeking information on the ancestry and siblings of James Ford, the identity of the surname of Sarah, his wife, family letters, documentation on this family: James Ford born about 1749 in either Baltimore or Prince Georges Co, Maryland, the son of Thomas Ford and possibly Ann. This couple lived in Lower Makefield twp, Beaver Co, Pa apparently near William Blackmore (married to Sarah Ford, a sibling of Hannah) Joseph Ford born 1784 in Washington Co, Md. Mary Ford born 1786 in Washington Co, Md. She married Ellis Ellis about 1800 to 1806 in Berkeley Co., Va. Sarah Ford born 1788 in Washington Co, Md. She married William Blackmore 31 July 1802 in Washington Co, Md. This couple later lived in Second Moon, Beaver Co, Pa. (See also Hannah Ford Houck above) Henry Ford born 1790 in Washington Co, Md. Ann Ford born 1792 in Washington Co, Md; Her probate was 18 May 1810 in Washington Co, Md. (unmarried) Abigail Ford born 1794 in Washington Co, Md. Fran, I can trace my mother's and my father's family back to JOSEPH LOOMIS 1590-1658 a woolen-draper of Braintree, County Essex, England. One of JOSEPH LOOMIS's sons JOSEPH LOOMIS is my 9th grandfather on my father's side and JOHN LOOMIS his brother is my 11th grandfather on my mother's side. My parents met during W.W.II in 1942 in California. My mother's family was in California from Ripley, Chautuaqua County, New York where the LOOMIS family was plentiful. My father's family was from a farm in Illinois, after many years of research after finding my mother's LOOMIS connection I found that my Dad's family went back to Bradford County, PA where Daniel LOOMIS was an early well known pioneer in the 1700s which led me to a book I had owned for years which listed all I ever needed to know from that point on. I was amazed at my findings, all proven with all the documentation. Hope this helps answer your question. Chocy
