Tried locating the Washington Co. Free Library website only to have "sorry site not available" pop up on the screen. What I was wanting was an obit search for Russell Rhinehart who died there @ 27 May 2002. Roger, there is a marriage in the index for David Beard and Christiana Slice 5/11/1822. There are a lot of marriages for this family beginning in 1799. There are 11 Beard entries in the estate distributions, but they are single entries. The Maryland Herald entry on their marriage says her last name is Slick but the Torchlight entry says Slice. In the Torchlight Dec. 3, 1829 there is a lengthy equity case involving Philip Beard's estate. He was indebted to Eve Schnebly, she transferred that indebtedness to George Schnebly and after his death his administrator Jacob Snively brought the action after Philip Beard died. Real estate was to be sold to clear the debt. The action is against the following: Michael Beard, Peter Beard, Jacob Beard, George Beard, Philip Beard, David Beard, John Beard, Samuel Beard, David Troxell, Elixabeth Troxell, Peter Troxell, Margaret Troxell, Daniel Beard, Andrew Beard, Jacob, John and Catherine Hull, heirs and representatives of Philip Beard, Dec.d. Letters of administration on his personal estate were granted to complainant by the Orphan's Court of said co. A certain portion of the heirs of Philip Beard are non-residents of Md, to wit, Peter, Jacob, George, John, and David Beard and Peter Troxell and Margaret his wife, and Jacob Hull and John Hull. I did not find Philip's estate in the distributions. There is a marriage of a Philip to Elizabeth Keyser Dec. 4, 1802. There are 68 Beard burials listed in Vol. III of the cemetery books, a number of them at the Reformed Church in Cavetown. There are also 25 Beard burials listed in Vol. II. There is an entry in The Torchlight March 28, 18, 1827. "Died Mon last at his residence in Sharpsburg, John Beard, at an advanced age." I couldn't track down a Hull or Troxell marriage into the Beard family in the index. Brenda, 1790, although the first to record not just the head of household, but all persons, was 1850. In Washington Co, MD there was also a special census of at least a portion of the oounty in 1776. Does anyone have information on a Samuel STONE b.1839 Boonsboro, Wash. Co. MD? He married a Catherine (PATTERSON)? in Boonsboro,MD. They had a daughter Carrie, then moved to Mt. Morris,Ogle Co. IL. Then there was a little boy named Charles W. b. abt. 1867. Then Catherine died and he married a Margaret Ellen WALLACE. They had 3 children, Luella Dorothy b.1878, Leslie b.1881, and Lucile b.1883. I have info on Luella, she was my great grandmother. I don't know where she died,can't find her death certificate,but the date is 22 Jan 1917. Don't have Samuel STONE"S death date or where he died either. I would like to have their death certificates for my records. I have info that his father was Ezra STONE married to Lucy Ann SMITH (6 Dec 1873) and his father was William STONE married to Susan LEITER (4 Jun 1811) Then William's father was a Nehemiah STONE marrried to Sarah WILSON (3 Mar 1778) Can anyone give me proof that any or all of this is correct? Both Ezra and William were born in Boonsboro, Wash. Co. MD. NEhemiah was born in Montgomery Co. MD.

In the marriage index there is a William Stone/Sus. Leighter 6/14/1800 and Ezra Stone/Lucy Ann Smith 12/6/1832. Those are the only two Stone grooms. This index covers the period 1799 - 1860 and the index dates are the date of the marriage license applications. There should be quite a bit of information on the Leiter/Leighter/Lighter family. I think there is an article about them in one of the genealogical journals for Maryland. I don't have the citation off hand but will look for it.
