Hello Maryland, My search for Henry LAMBERT has led me from Shenandoah County, VA where Henry died in 1843, to Lovettsville, Loudoun County, VA (possibly) where a son, David is born in 1799, and now possibly Washington County, MD. A Henry LAMBERT appears in the 1790 Washington County census. A Henry LAMBERT also appears in a Loudoun County, VA tax list at about the same time. Could these Henrys be the same person? At some point prior to 1790, Henry marries Elizabeth UNKNOWN. A daughter, Catrina and a son David are born (christened) in Lovettsville. Henry and family then appear in the 1810 Shenandoah County, VA census where he and Elizabeth live the rest of their lives. Henry's Will is probated in 1843. In 1807 John of Martin ROHRER is an administrator for Henry (of John) FUNK's estate. In the Torchlight of Oct. 28, 1830 there is a marriage notice for Martin ROHRER and Mary FUNK. In looking at cemetery records I think that there may be several more Martin ROHRER's including one who was having children in the 1850's who would have been a contemporary of sorts to the one below. His wife was Tracy. Maybe the discussion will be a trigger for someone who knows more about them. Margaret Ellen Rohrer Davis is my great great Grandmother. A short article from a newspaper article written for a family reunion states Mr. Middlekauff and Elizabeth Rohrer went to California after their marriage. I have no proof of this, but it may give you another area to check out. Don't know if it would be helpful but there are a number of Rohrer's and with other spellings in Rockingham, Virginia. There is a John Rohr age 93 in 1850 and born Maryland living with Jacob Majors and wife Mary Rohar Majors -she was born in Virginia- in Meldys District(Poolesville), Montgomery County Maryland. Probably this doesn't help all that much but thought I would pass it on. No, there is no COLE. Seems the name McCall has been transcribed COLE and McCaul on a few sites which has messed everything up. Barbara's mother was Nancy McCall. Her sister was Mary McCall which is my line. How are you related? If we could pull together and put the descendents in place maybe we could all get Nancy's father's info. The 'book' I was referring to is a history of a Talhelm family and one just written for family . It is not a hard bound book. One of Jacob and Barbara's children was named Luke Taulhelm Maugans. I will send the copy of this photo in about 4 weeks. I have a nasty sprain of my left ankle and cannot drive for a few more weeks. REAL NUISANCE! You will be delighted with the resources you find in Washington Co. and Frederick Co. libraries and courthouses. Bothof these cities have an Historical Society as well. I know what you mean about being a family genealogist. I have 2 and 3 great grandmothers for whom I do not parents or even maiden surnames. These ladies are hard to locate. I have a lead on a possible will for Nancy's father. I will be in MD twice next year in an attempt to get the will as well as other info. I live in Canal Winchester Ohio and obsess about this research :) Nancy had two other sisters that I know of for sure; Mary (likley an Elizabeth) and Peggy (Margaret). They married two FARROW brothers in the 1820's and lived their entire married lives in Williamsport. Peggy's husband died in Clear Spring. Mary moved to WVA and the to Newark Ohio after the death of her husband. Sorry if I bore you...I do so love this family and would love to fill in every gap possible.
