    3. Hi Ruth, Here is all the info I received on it. >The Washington County Genealogical Group in one of their quarterlies did an >article on the BARE Baer family some time back. :>) So far I have leaned that the Wash Co. Gen. Society is very small and does not have a publication and others suggested that it may have been the Historical Society. So I don't know. I will probably do a search in PERSI and see if the Bear/Bare name come up in any Washington Co publication in the last few years. 2. Hello, I have several years of the Western Maryland Genealogy Quarterly [Jan. 1985 Vol. 1 No. 1 through January 2001 Vol. 17 No. 1]. Is there a particular issue you are referring to? I could check to see if I have it. Be glad to look up the information for you. Ruth

    2. There is a Washington County Genealogical Society but we have no publications. I can ask at our next meeting (Jan 24) if anyone can give me some info. We are a very small group and I am the President. There is also a Washington County Historical Society but I'm not a member and don't know whether they publish anything. 3. Karen: Go back and look at your brick walls, it doesn't make sense, you are saying he was 13 years old when he got married!!I. Suggest you look into the first census of 1790 and see if he was listed for Washington County and then do the same thing for Ohio BUT at a much later date say 1820. Some census takers wrote down a sunstantial amount of info. 3. Karen, In the estate distributions there is an estate for Peter Miller MILLER, Peter. Adm. Daniel, George Gehr. 5/30/1823. Heirs areJohn, Daniel, Sarah Otto, Rebecca Renner, Mary, Anna Otto, Elias and Peter. Here are early Peter Miller sightings in the Newspaper Extractiions from 1799-1805 1. Dec. 9, 1801 - Bartgis' Republican Gazette - Frederick "Peter Miller has taken up a stray cow which came to his plantation nr Harley's store, Fred, co." 2. Aug. 15, 1799, Maryland Herald - Hagerstown "A. Kennedy requests payment of debts; also to let stone house adjacent to Peter Miller's near court house" [This house was let the following spring to a dry goods merchant - next door was Peter Miller's. A year later he was in possession of the house Peter Miller had been in.] 3. April 18, 1801 Maryland Herald "Peter Miller, Hagerstown, offers reward for missing milch cows." 4. Nov. 5, 1801, Maryland Herald "Died Mon evening last, after a short but painful ilness, Mrs. Nancy Miller, wife of Peter Miller, Merchant of this town." 5. Dec. 7, 1803 Maryland Herald "To be sold, at the dwelling house of Jacob Orndorff, decd, 1 1/2 miles from Sharpsburg, his pers est. Susanna Orndorf and Peter Miller, ad./To rent store house, formely occ by Messrs. John and Hezekiah Clagett and how by Alexander Neill - Peter and Matthias Miller, Hagers Town." 6. March 18, 1804 Maryland Herald There is an approval of a school exhibition of Mr. Edwards. Included on the list are Peter Miller, hatter and Peter Miller, merchant. Later items include a partnership of Peter and Matthias Miller who made hats. In 1807 there is a reference to Peter Miller's Mill on the Conococheague 1 1/2 miles from Williamsport. He was having a machine erected to break and card wool. I don't know if these help, perhaps just to help sort. 3. I am sending this inquiry to three lists: Allegany, Washington, and Frederick. I am looking for information on ancestors who lived in Allegany County. First entry for my ancestor is the 1788 list where he is listed as a Settler. The last record I have for him is dated 1805 when his patents are recorded for lots 3854 and 3855 of Deakin's Survey. I know he and his family left Allegany and settled in Licking County with a group of families most of which were enumerated near him in the 1800 census for George's Creek. I have been attempting to learn the name of his wife and where they were married. Her name was Catharine and she was born in 1760 in Maryland. One researcher gives her name as Catharine Corbus, however there is no reference for this information. This would indicate she may have been the daughter of Godfrey Corbus (Sr) who was living very near the Holtsberry (Holsbury) family in 1800. Moses Spicer deeded one of his lots to Nicholas Holsbury. He is not listed in the 1800 census but Cath Spicer is. Does anyone know if she is his widow? I would like some suggestions as to where to find early marriages for this area. I have not had any luck with the Archives. Can someone tell me location of this information? I realize depending on the actual date of the marriage, they may be in any of these counties. 2. Karen Hangsleben
    3. I would assume these are agricultural census returns or perhaps tax lists that you are thinking of. The LDS FHCenters have pamphlets of all states and many foreign countries that might help you with an overview of what resources are available in each state - those common resources that many go to first type. You can buy the pamphlet at a reasonable price or the whole bundle of all states however you'd want to. Just typing in Maryland Genealogy as a web search might be something too. A call to the local Wash and Fred Cos libraries local history departments might find you a list of what is available in ea county too. People are so helpful, I'm sure others will reply to your plea as well. I've read postings on the internet stating census information which included how much produce, livestock, etc in detail that a family had. Have I missed that somewhere? Is it available somewhere for Fred. and Wash. counties? Also, what tax information is available for those counties? 1. Re: [MDWASHIN] LAMBERT - 1790 Census
    2. Lauren Brantner
    3. I don't have any specific references to these two names. There is some information on George and Jacob Lambert - in the January 4, 1805 edition of the Maryland Herald they advertised that some stray sheep had come to their plantation about seven miles from Hagerstown. In the marriage index: Jc./Elizabeth Gearhart 1/1/1802 Geo./Jane Johnson 12/5/1803 From the Distribution of Estate Accounts I can tell you that Jacob was administrator for Sophia Gearhart and his heirs received a distribution, so she is some relation probably. There are two Lambert estates- one for Eve and one for George M. and they have the same heirs - Thomas Noland and wife (Susannah), Jacob, heirs of Eve Gearhart, George H., John, Michael Graybell and wife, Barbara Ann Zeigler, Jonas, William Garver and wife, Shem. [Michael Graybill of Lancaster Co. PA married Esther Lambert Feb. 4, 1808 according to the Maryland Herald, Feb. 5, 1808.] [Also William Garver married Mary Lambert 2/10/1812 according to marriage index, and Eve Lambert married David Gearhart 6/13/1801] I don't know if any of these match any of your information, but these are the Lamberts in the area in the early 1800's that I was able to track.
