    3. Is the 1783 tax list for Murley's Branch area available to view in the original handwriting? If so, where would the original or photocopies of the original be held? Many Thanks, Janet Currie

    3. Richard, The answer to your question may lie, simply, in the title of the book, which includes ..."18th Century, 1768-1800." I know one of your birth dates is in 1801, but that seems to be the rare exception. 2. Twila Costello
    3. Hello, The book with the information from St John's Lutheran Church in Hagerstown may have some information about my Weaver/Weber family who married a Maugans in 1797. Frederick Weaver/weber b. July 10, 1774 married Elizabeth Maugans Dec. 1797. Elizabeth was born Oct. 29, 1777. They moved to Clermont Co Ohio in the early 1800's with several families from Hagerstown. Could you tell me if they are in the book you are talking about or where I might be able to find the book. I am in California so would be difficult for me to get to the local library in Hagerstown. Thank You for all your help. Love Twila

    3. Twila, There are only a very few marriages in the book--95% are births and baptisms--but yours is there: Dec 2 Frederick Waver and Elis. Maggin W.L. (where W.L. may mean "with license") - page 28 I see no other events involving Frederick or Elizabeth. By the way, I'm in Hawaii and so even less able than you to get to the library in Hagerstown. 3. Hooray, this is my WELSH/ WELCH family. I have information from several sources, including my grandfather's notes, who spelled GOWER as GOUR. Both families were from Funkstown (Jerusalem) and were active in the Lutheran Church there. Both Richard and Margaret are buried at the Funkstown cemetery. They were married May 14, 1829 (by Rev. B. Richard WELSH - b. Nov. 1, 1805 - d. Sept 9, 1863 Margaret GOWER - b. Jan. 6, 1811 - d. Mar 7, 1886 or 87 - conflicting dates Richard's father was also a Richard, I believe, as may have been his grandfather. 2. George, I have not traced this line because my Senator Joseph Henry Farrow married Mary Susan Nitzel. I have traced forward to date. However, I saw the book you mention and lamented that we could not purchase such a precious work...it seems a shame for it to be so limited. The photos were incredible...there was one of my Mary Susan. On my next trip I will ask them to copy the photo for me. If anyone is interested in Mary Susan Nitzel Farrow's children I have the info...now I just need the time to get back to my work!
