I'm sorry, but I don't find anything on The Storman, Strauman, Strawman, Strohman name. I did find a lot on the Herring/Hering name, including 7 1/2 pages of names, dates of birth, marriages, who & when they came to America & on what ships. They are all in Dover Township of York Co., so you might try to find your grandmother there. If you are interested in the Herring/Hering info, I would be glad to copy it and snail-mail it, or fax it to you, as it is quite a bit to transcribe into an e-mail. Just let me know. Sorry I couldn't help with your grandmother. Thanks, Donna Rae, for being willing to do these lookups. Mine are KEEFAUVERs, also spelled Kefauver, Kefauber, and any of a half-dozen other ways. Specifically: John KEFAUVER (b. before 1755, d. before 1808, Frederick, MD) married Barbara SANTZ (b. abt. 1767, Frederick, MD, d. before 1827, Frederick, MD), children Magdalena, George, Catherine, Mary Ann, Barbara, and John. Son John married Magdalena MILLER, also born in MD. I'm particularly interested in John Sr., Barbara Santz, and Magdalena Miller. It seems to me a special treat to identify the women's families. It would be a delight if they appear in your books. Larry, My information is that John Peter Herr and wife, Susannah, lived in Hagerstown, MD from ca. 1783 - after 1820. Their son, Samuel Herr, moved to Lancaster, Fairfield Co., OH in the 1820's and lifed out his life there, eventually marrying a woman named Jane S. There is a record in Hagerstown ca. 1830 that John Peter Herr and his wife, Susannah "of Fairfield Co., OH" sold a lot in Hagerstown. I find them in Lancaster, Fairfield Co., OH in the 1830 census. I believe John Peter Herr died ca. 1835 in Ohio though I've not found proof or a grave. John M. Thank you, again. Son Conrad Herr married Catherine Biegler in Hagerstown and lived out his life in Greencastle, Antrim Twp., Franklin Co., PA. They were the parents of Catherine Herr who married Henry Kuhn, the brother of my great-grandmother, Martha Kuhn Rhodes. Conrad was a tailor in Greencastle. John Peter Herr was a tailor in Hagerstown. His father was thought to have been a tailor in Eschwege, Hesse. He was "Meister" Johann Conrad Herr, meaning he was a master "tailor?". John M. Thank you very much, Lauren. I'm aware of the children of Johann Peter Herr and Susannah X in Hagerstown. Indeed, I've traced Johann Peter Herr back to Eschwege, Hesse where he was born in Aug 1758, the eldest son of Johann Conrad Herr and Elizabeth Völcke and grandson of Johann Peter Herr and Johann Bernard Völcke. His brother was Johann Bernard Herr! He also had three younger sisters in Eschwege. But I have not been able to identify his wife, Susannah as yet. John M.
