There are a total of 7 volumes of cemetery records. There are no wills for the names below in the will index. Washington Spy (Hagerstown) October 18, 1793 "George Bishop has opened a house of Entertainment in the Main St. at Williamsport." Maryland Herald February 22, 1798 "Lands to be leased or sold, 2300 a. in Harrison, Co. Va - George Bishop, Hagerstown." In 1804 a Jacob Bishop owned land and a mill within 5 miles of Hancocktown. There is a will and estate documents for a Jacob Bishop in the will index for the year 1784. A Margaret Bishop appears in the will index in 1798 but nothing is listed for the person. There is a will in the Jefferson County WV index for a George Bishop in 1819. There is a William Bishop listed in Bell's Co. of the Maryland Militia of Wash. Co. during the Rev. War. I believe his rank is Pvt. 1st. class. There are also Bishops in Worcester Co. Md. during colonial times. Brumbaughs Maryland Records Vol. II lists a marriage of John Bishop and Hannah Cooper September 17, 1789 in Fred. Co. Md. Good luck! Carole, There is no Nathaniel Norris listed in any of the other Morrow Washington County, MD Cemetery Record Volumes although there are other Norrises. Carole, There is no entry for Nathaniel in the Will Index for Washington County 1776-1890. There are entries for Jacob, Lloyd N. Margaret and Sophia - all from 1834 forward. There are Norris grooms in the Marriage index starting with John in 1807. No Nathaniel. In the September 3, 1794 edition of the Washington Spy (Hagerstown) an Edmund Norris volunteered for Capt. Bowles' company of the Col. Thomas Sprigg's Regiment. This is a Maryland state militia unit as opposed to a federal unit. Hagerstown Gazette July 16, 1811 "Surviving partner' controversy involving Matthew Brown; John Frick, Baltimore; William NORRIS; Henry Payson; Joel Morgan; Jacob NORRIS." In 1807 Jacob and William Norris had an ad in the Frederick Town Herald - they were tea dealers and grocers on 64 Market Street in Baltimore. There are Norris entries in the newspaper abstracts from Frederick County. There are no entries in Brumbaugh's Maryland Records vol 1 and 2 for Nathaniel - quite a few for others. There are many Norris entries in Passano's Source Records of Maryland. One family volume published in 1916: Norris Family of Maryland, 1642. T. M. Myers, W. M. Clemens, 1916. ltd. ed. MHS (Maryland Historical Society); Peabody Library. Other locales in the listings are Baltimore, Frederick, Harford, Anne Arundel, Montgomery, etc. There is a pedigree chart for Bennet Biscoe Norris in the Society of Colonial Wars Md. in DAR and MHS. There are many entries in Myers' Family Bible Records in the Hagerstown Wash. Co. Free Library. Nathaniel is not there but these may be worth looking at. Some entries go back to 1780 for a William Norris. Other families intermarried include Heskins, Hawkins, Donavan, Posey, Smith, Deavers, Forrest, Merriman, etc. There are some Norris burials in Vol. II of Morrow's Wash Co Cemetery Records which encompasses Hancock dist. 5. No Nathaniel. There are also Norris burials in Vol. III and VII. Those the only ones I own. There are quite a few entries in Ridenour's Wash Co Md obituary locator 1790-1943, There are several Norris Bibles in the Md. Gen. Council's Inventory of Maryland Bible Records. One location is Anne Arundal cos.; another is in Caroline and Queen Marys; there are two others listed in the Maryland State Historical Society. Your Nathanial appears to be elusive in my sources. I would check land records that are online. It is NOT in Boonsboro! Take route 65 south out of Hagerstown, South Potomac Street. It becomes Sharpsburg Pike. Eventually it crosses route 68, Lappands Road. The next route is route 63, in the area of Fairplay. Route 63 on the right is Speilman Road, and on the left is Manor Church Road. About a mile down Manor Church Road is the Manor Church on your right, and Manor Church Cemetery is on your left. Jack K

Mike they were nice pictures, I see that Boonsboro is still pretty rural. The cemetery as is all Brethren cemetaries looks well maintained. The church building looks familar, but the reason for that is the Brethren maintain the old building very well and simply add on to them as time goes on. I have seen many example of this before. Marlee: No I live in Maryland, but I have never seen the cemetery, however in most of these small towns the cemetery is run by a local funeral home. I would google looking for one there and then asking them. Even if they don't they would know where it is and have info on it. Requesting marriage verification between Thomas (Brown) Browne and Hanna (Pittinger) Pittenger, circa 1764 Frederick County. The youngest son Joseph Brown, born 1765. Hanna would have been living with patents Daniel Pittenger and Elizabeth Biggs. The homestead was located on the northern section on the Monocacy Manor, near Creagerstown. Also seeking information that would lead to the parentage of the above Thomas Brown, born 1733, died circa 1780's. Bob, I have copies of Letters of Administration, which are the first estate documents that need to be filed, for both Barton Watts and Thomas Watts, which I obtained several years ago from LDS microfilm. The Letters of Administration for *Barton Watts* are dated *23 December 1828 *and lists Henry L. Watts as Administrator. The Letters of Administration for *Thomas Watts* are dated *6 January 1829*, and lists Sarah Watts (his widow) and Gera South as administrators.
