Here's more info about the Fahrney Keedy Home for the Aged from its website: The property for "Fahrney Memorial Home for the Aged" was a gift in 1905 from Dr. Peter Fahrney of Chicago to the Church of the Brethren. The gift was in honor of Dr. Fahrney's grandfather, of the same name, who had lived in Mapleville, Maryland. The church transferred and incorporated a small plot of land and a large eight-room building called "San Mar" that had served as the younger Dr. Fahrney's summer home. His grandfather's small office building stood on the same property until its move to a Washington County historical park. Major additions and renovations were made to the main facility in 1907, 1915, 1918, 1952, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1993 and 2001. In 1952 a bequest from the estate of Hagerstown businessman Clarence Keedy was accepted and the name of the facility was changed to Fahrney-Keedy Memorial Home. We became known as Fahrney-Keedy Home & Village when our Independent Living retirement village was begun in 1962; today it consists of 61 cottages and apartments. Hi, Wonder if it could be a reference to the Fahrney Keedy institution in Boonsboro MD???? Just a thought. Its website indicates it's been around for 105 years. It's affiliated with the Church of the Brethren. Sam On Sat, Dec 29, 2012 at 4:15 PM, Dynasty Tree <[email protected]> wrote: > Washington County Home for the Aging

Greetings fellow family researchers, I am looking for any family members or someone who may have a research connection with...Freeland "Free" (Freeman, Fremont) BISHOP, he was b. c. 1854 Bethel Twp., Warfordsburg Borough, Fulton Co, PA. He migrated briefly into Washington County around the area of Hancock (most of his family settled in the area), thereafter migrating into Morgan County. In Morgan County “Free” married Lavinia E. (Edith, Emma, Etta) LANAM (LANHAM), 9 Sept 1888. Their first son William was b. 4 July 1889, Morgan County. William and his family ultimately settled in Hagerstown. Free and Lavinia’s second child was b. 9 May 1891, the informant for the birth was Lavinia’s mother, a few month’s later Lavinia died, again the informant was her mother. Does anyone know what happened to Free? What happened to the second child? Apparently Free either died or left prior to the birth of the second child. Any help breaking down this wall is greatly appreciated. Carole
Thanks for the pics Gordon. BTW, I'm still looking for information regarding where I can get a copy of an 1815 marriage record from Washington County, MD. I don't even know if the originals still exist. I found on Ancestry.com Maryland Marriages, 1655-1850 and on Familysearch Maryland, Marriages, 1666-1970 neither which appears to be the same record as each gives slightly different info. Ancestry.com says Rufus Riches married Mary Crunkleton Dec. 26, 1815 in Washington County, MD. Familysearch says Rufus Riches married Mary Crunkleton Dec. [no date] 1815 in Hagerstown, Washington County, MD. I'd love to see a copy of the original to see if Rufus is REALLY Riches or if he's REALLY as I suspect Eaches. I know in Ohio we keep marriage records in the county from statehood [1803], so I'm hoping that someone can shed some light on this for me. Thank you. And Merry Xmas and Happy New Year to everyone! Linda Trent 3rd g granddaughter of Rufus Eaches and Mary Crunkleton. ________________________________ From: Gordon Crooks <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Cc: [email protected]; Md Fred <[email protected]> Sent: Mon, December 17, 2012 1:36:08 PM Subject: [MDWashin] Eaches/Eachus will whoever was looking for the Eaches family please contact me, I have found burials of them.
