Hello to this great list. Mary Ann Hose, first wife of Samuel Gouker is my gggrandmother. According to the 1850 census, she would have been born about 1823. But, I don’t know her date of death or where she may be buried. Her youngest child, Edward Gouker, was born in 1856, and Samuel Gouker married his second wife, Elizabeth Yowler Alsip in 1860. So I assume Mary Ann Hose died sometime between 1856 and 1860. She is the daughter of Jacob Hose and Elizabeth Fauckler (various spellings i.e., Fockler, Falcker, Falcer, etc.) I have checked all 7 volumes of the Washington County, MD cemetery inscriptions, the Washington County, MD Obituary locator, and newspaper records available at Ancestry for around that time, but found no records in any of them. Would anyone on the list have any information about a date of death and burial location for Mary Ann Hose, or any other information for that matter? Any help would be so very much appreciated. Thank you.

I've "rescued" an old photograph identified as that of Emmanuel & Lulu BEECHER which was taken at the Lachman Studio in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1890's with the couple likely in their 20's at the time it was taken. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding this couple: Emanuel Herr BEECHER was b. 18 Nov 1870 or 1871 in Pottstown, PA to parents William BEECHER (b. 9 Sept 1811 in Hagerstown, MD - d. 27 Feb 1878 in Pottstown, PA) and Elizabeth Mary or Mary Elizabeth SITES (b. 1843 in PA-d. 1925). Emanuel was one of 4 children born to this couple including, Martha Herr; Bertha Mary; Emanuel Herr; and Edgar Horn BEECHER, all born in Pottstown, PA between 1867 and 1874. This was a second marriage for William BEECHER, having first been married to Elizabeth COLEMAN (b. abt 1821 in PA) with whom he had 7 children, including, Mary; Rebecca; Emily; William H.; Coleman H.; Myers C.; and Alice A. H. BEECHER, all born in PA between 1838 and 1856. Emanuel married Lulu H. HUGHES (b. Mar 1871 in Washington DC-d. 1938) and together they had 4 children, Emanuel Herr; William Stanley; Henry Ward; and Elizabeth Jennie BEECHER, all born in Philadelphia, PA between 1889 and 1908. Daughter Elizabeth Jennie BEECHER was born and died 2 Jun 1908 in Philadelphia, PA and is buried there in the Odd Fellows Cemetery. Emanuel died in Philadelphia, PA on 2 Aug 1911 and is buried in Pottstown, PA. Census records provide the following details regarding the family: 1880 census of Pottstown, PA: Hiram C. In 1776 one Jacob Hoover and Jacob Harbaugh took out a mortgage to purchase 200 acres in a tract near Hagerstown called the “Third Resurvey of Sarah’s Delight.” Two years later, after they had paid off the mortgage, Hoover conveyed his share to Harbaugh. I would like to know more information on which Jacob Hoover this was i.e. the name of his wife, or approximate birth or death dates. It is said that the place where the Harbaughs settled was later called “Harbaugh’s Valley” , and was first settled 1758-9 by a Swiss colony, and was later called “Hauver’s” Is the latter a corruption of “Hoover’s?”? No, Phyllis, sorry. The entry at Findagrave gives information about her children, but nothing beyond her father. Is Mike Hahn on this list? Think he is. He may have more information. Mike, are you here?? Sam On Sat, Jan 26, 2013 at 10:09 AM, <[email protected]> wrote: > > > I am curious about the 8th generation-Elizabeth Winters(1763-1827) and the > 9th generation-George Winters. That's a good piece of info!! I happen to be a Raven's fan for years. I know that they have done a lot for Baltimore especially some of the fans. Sam, I am definitely a Raven Fan. Thank you for the Ahnentafel of the Harbaugh brothers. I am curious about the 8th generation-Elizabeth Winters(1763-1827) and the 9th generation-George Winters. Do you have anything additional on the Winters family? Phyllis</HTML>
Not at all a football fan, but was wondered if the Harbaugh brothers were related to the Maryland Harbaughs, so based on Wikipedia and Findagrave information, found out that yes, indeed, they are descended from the Harbaughs of Frederick Co., Sabillasville area. Looking for family. Would there be any researchers on this list with connection and/or any information regarding: (1) Mary WISE b. c. 1828, (2) Elizabeth WISE b. c. 1830, (3) Emily WISE b. c. 1836? I haven’t any information pertaining to who any of these ladies married. For Emily WISE she was a domestic in the household of WILLIAM T BROTMAN (Bootman, Bortman) census of 1870, Hancock, Sir John's Run, Washington Co, MD. I have not found her after that period. Various members of the family resided in and/or around Hancock, Washington Co, MD, Allegany Co, MD, Morgan Co, WV, Berkeley Co, WV, Mineral Co, WV, Fulton Co, PA and OH. I apologize for my lack of information available to post with this inquiry. This is all the details I have at this time. If these ladies perhaps married into your family tree I would be grateful and deeply appreciative of anything you might share with me. Thank you for your time and any help you can offer. Carole
