    3. I am afraid too many Benedict Spaldings are being mixed up. In Maryland Records I find a Benedict Spalding b. 1798 d. 16 Feb 1832 SMC m 29 Sep 1819 Alethea Greenwell. I have not found him with middle name Joseph? A Benedict Joseph Spalding b. 1720- 1769 m. Elizabeth Mattingly 1746 SMC. Their son Benedict Spalding, Jr. b. Dec 1746, Calvert Co., MD d. 1 or 6 Aug 1815 Washington Co., KY m. Alethea(various spellings) Abell 1770.She was b. 22 Apr 1764 St. Andrews Parish, St. Marys Co., MD ( per Maryland Births & Christenings 1662-1911) & d. 1 Dec 1821, Washington Co., KY d/o Richard Abell & Ann. Above backed up by Find A Grave & by Family Data Collection.Sons of American Revolution Applications have varying dates. They had a son that shows as Benedict Joseph Spalding, III on some records b. 10 Jun 1783, SMC d. 25 Feb 1870 Marion Co., KY but marriage index in Washington Co., KY shows him as Benedict Spalding, Jr, in 3 marriage records Polly Hamilton, 16 Jan 1805, Eliza Elder 16 Jan 1815, & Eliza A. Beavin 7 Nov 1832. I also found listed as a brother Joseph Spalding with 4 possible marriages in Washington Co. Would they have named a son Joseph if they had Benedict Joseph?? There was a Benedict A. Spalding in Washington Co. married in 1821. Also Benedict J. Spalding in Union Co., KY m. in 1842.
