    3. The virus that causes chicken pox resides on your nerves not in the genes. You are right, there is a vaccine that helps prevent shingles which is painful. My doctor said it is recommended after age 60. However, two young people I know recently had bouts of shingles. BOTH are in their 20s. Anyway, good advice if slightly off-topic.
