If you look at the individuals involved in the administration of the Estates of both Enoch Joy and Thomas Payne, you will see close relatives of Tecla Thompson--for example, Oswald Thompson (her brother). Also, in my opinion, the Tecla Drury in question would have been too young to have been the wife of Enoch Joy (d. 1746). I have always felt that way. Giving her a birthdate of 1720 is not in synch with her theoretical siblings. I think the mistake originated fairly early on when all the women named "Tecla" were not identified. John D.
