Hi Randy, Thanks for your thought but I don't think that will work. If I understand you correctly you are referring to the Arthur Thompson who married 1st _______Stratford and 2nd Susanna Carberry. I have his daughter Tecla born about 1658. I have her marriage to Thomas Payne (aft 1642 - 1731) as occuring before 1700. The Tecla who married Enoch Joy did so by 1735 so that could be possible, but that would make her 135 years old in 1796 and still does not explain the 50 year period of widowhood that you are suspicious of. Unless anyone can provide a name and a marriage in the period 1746 to 1796 I think I'll leave her connections as I have them now. I also believe that the wife of Enoch Joy (d. 1746) was the relict of Thomas Payne, Telca Thompson dau of Arthur Thompson. Just my opinion and worth a look at. Hi Don, I am sure everyone has had this conversation before but..... I would question the birth date of 1658 for Tecla Thompson. Thomas Payne's children were born aft 1703 and she would be pretty old to be having children then. Why do you think she was born in 1658? Just curious.
