Hi again, John your reply raises several interesting questions. 1.) If you are correct, and I admit you present a good case, then which Joy did the Tecla who died in 1796 marry? The Tecla Drury I ascribe as a d/o John Drury (d. by 1724) could (and I emphasize could) have been born prior to 1720 but probably not prior to 1715. This would make her age between 76 and 81 at the time she died. There was sister Jane reported in the will. That is why I listed a Jane Drury as a d/o John (d. by 1724) and Mary Ford. 2.) Are you sure that Philip Norris (b. 12/25/1754) was the f/o the Elizabeth Norris who married Zachariah Peacock 10/25/1813? Linda has her mother as Ann (because of Ann's will) but without a father. Colonial Settlers of St. Mary's County (Elise Jourdain) has Philip s/o John & Mary born in 1754. Jourdain then lists children of Philip and Monica (baptized at St. Andrews) as Susanna (1751), Henrietta (1754), and Eleanor (1767). There is no Elizabeth Norris listed. In addition, Philip would hardly be fathering a child at age 7. How many Philip Norris' do we have? I'm very thin on the Norris line. 3.) Given the proximity of Drurys, Peacocks, Raleys and others, could there also be Norris households nearby? I'll be interested in your thoughts. If anyone else wants to comment I'd welcome all your thoughts. If you look at the documents related to the administration of the Estate of Enoch Joy on 8/4/1747 in SMC, you will see that "Ozel" (Oswald Thompson--son of Arthur Thompson and brother of Tecla (Thompson) Payne) was one of the Securities for the Administration Bond. If you look at the documents related to the administration of the Estate of Thomas "Pain" (Payne--first husband of Tecla Thompson), you will see that John Thompson was one of the Major Creditors of the Estate on 2/7/1731/32 and 3/8/1731/32. Also, "Subbustain" (Sebastian) Thompson owed a debt to the Estate of Thomas Payne on 3/8/1732/33. The above does not constitute proof. But, there is as much circumstantial information connecting Tecla to the Thompson family as to the Drury family. And Tecla Thompson's probably birth year(s) fit better. Item #2 must be old information. Elizabeth Norris, born 1773, wife of Zachariah Peacock, was the daughter of Philip Norris, 1742-1809 and Monica Norris, 1739-1812. Elizabeth was named in the wills of both of her parents. She married Zachariah Peacock October 25, 1813 and was living as late as 1830. Will of Philip Norris, St. Mary's Co., 2/17/1809-5/18/1809. Wife: Monica Norris, one-third of my personal estate and the plantation where I live called "Pilkerton's Venture" and Part of "Last Shift" containing 70 acres during her life. Son: James Norris, my desk and my plantation after the death of my wife. Grandson: John Baptist Norris, one cow. Children: James Norris, Elizabeth Norris, Susanna Norris, and Mary Norris, the remaining two thirds of my personal estate divided equally. Exec.: Son, James Norris. Wit.: Ignatius Shirley, Joseph Wheatley, George Barnhouse. (St. Mary's County, Maryland Wills, 1803-1820 by Linda Reno and Joann Humphries). 9/11/1830: ST. MARY'S COUNTY COURT (Land Records) JH 8, 1827-1830 MSA CE 121-2 (page 527) (My Abstract). Indenture made 9/11/1830 Rebecca Norris, Edward Clarke & wife, Mary Clarke, Zachariah Peacock & wife, Elizabeth Peacock for the sum of $60 sell to John Baptist Norris that tract of land where Philip Norris died composed of two tracts "Pilkinton's Venture" & the other "Last Shift" together with all buildings, etc. (Courtesy, Tom Jennings). If you are correct, and I admit you present a good case, then which Joy did the Tecla who died in 1796 marry?
