    1. [MDSTMARY] Part Three in the discussion of Charles Martin and Maria Thompson.....
    2. John Dobricky
    3. Hello again and again. As with my two previous e-mails, please do not view what I am writing as fact. Some of it is and some of it is educated speculation. Anyway.... Remember the "Samuel Chapman Thompson" mentioned in my second e-mail of today. I have come to believe that Jane ________ Martin Cusic (mother of the Charles Martin who married Maria Thompson in SMC) was born Jane Etheldra Chapman. Colonel Samuel Chapman (b. 1767 in CHarles County, MD, and d. 10/2/1825 at Mr. Shoaff's tavern in Williamsport, Frederick County, MD--he was buried there on 10/3/1825) had a sister, Jane Etheldra Chapman (b. 11/9/1762). Samuel Chapman and Jane Etheldra Chapman were the children of John Chapman (b. 1/13/1724/25 and d. 1/28/1801 in Charles County, MD) and Etheldra McPherson (b. 8/23/1731 at Portobacco, Charles County, MD, and d. 8/29/1782). Samuel Chapman lived his life in Charles County, MD, in the Portobacco area. Note that the witnesses to the Will of Jane (Chapman?) Martin Cusic were both Spaldings. This could indicate that Jane (Chapman?) Martin Cusic was born a Spalding--I'm just not sure who she would have been. Feedback welcome--more research is needed. There is also some connection with the Brewer family..... William Brewer (b. after 1773 and d. bet. 1839 and 1840 in SMC--son of Thomas Brewer and Ann Minta Dorsey) married (ML 1/8/1827 in SMC) Cecelia A. Russell (b. 1807 in SMC and d. 9/11/1885 in Baltimore, MD--daughter of John Russell and Ann Mmilburn) and they had, at least, the following children: 1) Edward D. Brewer (b. 1827 and d. aftger 1870 in SMC--he married Mary Elizabeth Martin (daughter of Charles Martin and Maria Thompson); 2) Emeranda E. Brewer (b. 1830 and d. 8/30/1853 in SMC--she married (on 5/23/1848 in SMC) James E. Campbell); 3) Cecelia Ann Brewer (b. 1833 in SMC and d. after August of 1853 ); 4) Ellen A. Brewer (b. 1833 and d. after 1860 in SMC--she married (on 2/28/1849 in SMC) George C. Tarlton); 5) John Thomas Brewer (b. 1835 and d. after 1850); 6) Joseph E. Brewer (b. 1837 and d. after 1850); 7) Mary Jane Brewer (b. bef. 1865 and d. 12/20/1835 in SMC--as mentioned in my earlier e-mail, she married (before 1865 in SMC) Judge Samuel Chapman Thompson (b. 12/20/1835 and d. 10/25/1900 in SMC)). Also, in my earlier e-mail, I did not list all the children of George W. Thompson and Elizabeth Cusic (daughter of Philip Cusic and Jane (Chapman?) Martin. Here is the full list: George W. Thompson (b. 1807) and Elizabeth Cusic (b. 1810) had the following individuals living in their household in SMC in 1860: 1) George W. Thompson (b. 1807); 2) Elizabeth (Cusic) Thompson (b. 1810); 3) Ann M. Thompson (b. 1834--she may have married either (in 1851) James T. Brewer or (in 1872) Hilary Johnson); 4) Samuel Chapman Thompson (b. circa 1837--see additional mentions elsewhere); 5) Martha E. Thompson (b. 1840--she married (in 1859 in SMC) Charles H. Martin (son of Charles Martin and Maria Thompson)); 6) Louisa Thompson (b. 1825--she could be the child of George W. Thompson by an earlier marriage but this is unlikely--I believe she was the sister of George W. Thompson). My head is spinning so I'm going to sign off now. As before, corrections and feedback welcome. Also, maybe some of the information I have sent might spark some additional insights in other folks. John Dobricky At the time of the Federal Census of 1860 in SMC, Ann M. Brewer (daughter of Lloyd Aloysius Brewer (b. 1821 and d. 1850-55 in SMC--son of Joseph Brewer and Mary Russell (b. 1800 and d. 1821-26 in SMC--daughter of John Russell and Ann Milburn--as well as sister of Cecelia A. Russell (above--wife of William Brewer)) was living in the household of John Miley Brewer (he married Rosa Castilia Martin (daughter of Charles Martin and Maria Thompson).
