Combs who served in the Civil War. He married Sarah Susan (Sallie) Floweree. We were never able to determine who the father of William H. Combs was. William H. and Sallie came to Jackson County, West Virginia, before the Civil War. During the Civil War, he and three sons served in the war. There were 12 children in this family. Throughout the family histories, we have found the name Contee ... We are looking for the ancestors of William H. Combs. He died in Mason County in 1896. Six months later, Sallie also died.
