Does anyone know if Thomas DAVIS of Craven Co NC-- who is said to be father of Lawson Davis and Briscoe Davis of Craven Co--really was a son of Ann Briscoe and her 1st husband, John Davis? I am researching Elizabeth Banner Coleman, d/o Peter and probably Elizabeth Wood Banner (d/o Samuel Wood & Ann Briscoe) and herfamily was in Craven in very close proximity to Lawson and Briscoe Davis between 1785-1790. New Bern area. I am told that Elizabeth Banner's husband, James Coleman was a shoemaker. Some of the Wood family were also shoemakers so I don't know if that would have any trade connection. But my main query is if Thomas DAVIS was indeed a son of Ann Briscoe and John Davis as many say online? If so, when did he go to Craven Co. NC? B.
