I had always wondered why he was a member of Van swearinger's pennsylvnia company and not a virginia regiment. However it appears that he married a Sarah peake in washington Pa in 1776 who was from a prince william county virginia family. why they were in pennsylvania is unknown. But I think it is unlikely he was born in Frederick maryland however ther is also a frederick county virginia very close to the maryland border.
