Ok Linda, Thank you. I don't know why I thought there was a conflict with the Edward that died in 1764. I think I have this now. -----Original Message----- From: mdstmary-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:mdstmary-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Linda Reno Sent: Thursday, December 18, 2008 7:54 AM To: mdstmary@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [MDSTMARY] Edward Barber Luke Barber m. Luke who died in 1674 left son Edward Lukeland. So Edward who dies in 1694 (married to Cibbell) must have had "unborn child" Luke who died in 1739 left Luckland to Cornelius and Edward. Edward who died in 1769 left Luckland to son Barnet - this lineage I can understand. Luke-Edward-Luke-Edward-Barnet So Luke was born 1694 or after. Below, Andrew Norton in 1712 has brother in law Luke through his marriage to a White. He appoints him as backup to take care of his 7 yr old son and has him witness his will. If it was this Edward's son Luke he would be barely 18 yrs old. It makes more sense that the Luke who is his brother in law is Luke, eldest son of Dr Luke the immigrant who married the White. Norton., Andrew, planter, Charles County, 10th Aug., 1712; formerly of Fairfield Stope Parish, So. Britain, 1st Aug., 1717. To son Cornelius, ex., and hrs., all estate lying in Fairfield afsd. purchased of one Burk by testator's father and coveyed by him to testator, the conveyances being left in hands of kinsman Wm. Morwood, of Burbige Green, near Buxton, in Darbyshire, also residue of estate, real and personal, in South Britain, Maryland, or elsewhere, and personalty. To Anne Cope and goddaughter Ann, dau. of Rebecca Duplex, personalty. Test. appoints father-in-law Cornelius White, gent., of Charles County, guardian and trustee for son during minority, he being 7 yrs. old 2nd of Feb. last. In case of decease of sd. guardian, test. appoints his brother-in-law, Luke Barber, to act in his place. Test. describes himself as eld. son and heir of Andrew Norton, Sr., yeoman, of Fairfield afsd.., and states that it has been 13 yrs. since his leaving Cheshire and arrival in this province. He directs that he be buried in the garden of his dwel. place, as near as may be to his late wife. Test: Rich. Jenkin, Charles Jones, Rebecca Duplex, Luke Barber, 14. 500. Note-In probate on this will Rebecca Duplex has become Rebecca Cumberbitch -----Original Message----- From: mdstmary-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:mdstmary-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Linda Reno Sent: Thursday, December 18, 2008 7:54 AM To: mdstmary@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [MDSTMARY] Edward Barber Luke Barber m.
