    3. My 9th great grandparents are Martha Eltionhead that married Edwin Conway. Martha is the daughter of Richard Eltonhead and Anne Sutton. I am attempting to trace Richard Eltonhead's lineage but there appears to be several generations going to Henry Eltonhead, first I see of the line. According to another persons research the following is noted. " Parrin, in his Register of Maryland Heraldic Families Pages 273-277 shows that family of NORRES or NORRIS family were owners of the manor of Eltonhead. The origins of the NORRES family became Eltonhead and started in Sutton, Lancashire, England before the beginning of the reign of Henry III." " In his comment on Eltonhead, Sir william Norres of Speke affirms that there were families in Sutton who had once carried the name of Norres but had given it up." " The Eltonheads original crest was on a window in Chidwell Church, County, Lancashire. It displays the same crest as Sir Henry Norres who married Alice of Chester, daughter of Roger de Ernys." I have as data, Richard Eltonhead was born ca 1582 in Eltonhead, Lancashire England and died 23 Sep 1664 in the same location, son of William Eltonhead and Anne Bowers. His wife Anne Sutton was born ca 1586 in Rushton, Staffordshire, England and died about 1686 in England. She is the daughter of Edward Sutton and Theodosia Harrington. Richard Eltonhead and Anne Sutton had five daughters that came to Virginia and a brother William Eltonhead that came to Maryland. Children: i. William Eltonhead born ca 1615 in Lancashire, England and died 14 May 1657 in Calvert Co., MD. He was a member of the Maryland Council. Hayden shows that William Eltonhead took the oath of fealty on 2 Jan 1646, and that he was a member of the King's Privy Council 29 Sep 1649, or a little more than two years after taking his oath of fealty to the Stuarts. He took the oath as a member of the Privy Council 22 Jul 1650 and undertook a mission to the colony of Maryland as agent of Lord Baltimore 1654-5. There he was killed in the conflict between Governor Stone and Fenwick. ii. Agatha Eltonhead m (1) Luke Stubbins ; (2) Ralph Wormley, Sr. ; (3) Henry Chicheley. iii.
