    1. [MDSTMARY] Hamilton Alexander and Elizabeth Shercliffe-CORRECT
    2. Dottie Himes
    3. Hello Shirley Moller and all the Group. I certainly apologize for causing any problem with the Alexander Hamilton's marriage to Elizabeth Z. Shercliff Green which IT SHOULD ACTUALLY BE ELIZABETH SHERCLIFF. The problem all boils down to the fact that the Book IMPRINTS BY MARY LOUISE DONNELLY. She wrote a nice book, but as many people have been saying, there is good information but she did make a lot of mistakes, and with all the duplicate names and similar names, I can see why it is easy. Thus the IMPRINTS book on pg 9 paragraph 8 does say the following which IS WRONG. Briefly it says Alexander Hamilton m. 1708 Elizabeth Zacharia Green the daughter of Robert Green and Mary Boarman. It does go on to say that Elizabeth Zacharia Green had m/1 Andrews Sumpson and had 2 sons Andrew and Geroge. So after Mary Moller was kind enough to send the email below, I am asking myself, how are my records wrong. So I pulled out the book Genealogy of Benjamin Thomas Hamilton by Anna L. Hamilton. I found on page 7, which I will type below, I was going to attach the page but remembered we cannot have attachments, so if anyone wants a copy of the page email me and I will send it to you. Page 7 for Genealogy of Benjamin Thomas Hamilton by Anna L. Hamilton (short version) Alexander Hamilton b. 1675 married 1708 Pr George Co MD to Elizabeth (Shercliffe) Green, the young widow of Francis Green (b abt 1664 -1707) Elizabeth was b. 1674 and d 1753, a daughter of William Shercliff and Mildred Thompson who married 2nd a Wheeler. Elizabeth is listed in her father Williams will as Elizabeth Shercliff Green the widow of Francis now the wife of Alexander Hamilton. In addition, when I was backtracking and checking, I actually found in my notes that in 2005, I actually had her married to Francis Green and then to Alexander Hamilton and dau of William Shercliffe, but my notes said that I was advised that I was wrong by someone on line, and was told that Alexander Hamilton had m. Elizabeth Zacharia Shercliffe Green...............do I need to say any more? I am sure that genealogist thought he or she was right, especially if the records were found in the IMPRINTS book. Thanks Mary Moller for sending the email showing that my records were wrong. It sure is hard when one source says one thing and you think it has been researched...........but the IMPORTANT thing is have the data right. Thanks everyone always for all your help on this list, it is certainly a great Group to work with. 3. Dottie, This statement might be partially true. It's possible Elizabeth ? wife of Francis GREENE, may also have married Alexander HAMILTON. But forget the possibility she was an Elizabeth SHERCLIFFE daughter of William Shercliff and Mildred Thompson, because that did not happen. Most of these books you are using as your source are full of errors. Alexander Hamilton b. -----Original Message----- From: mdstmary-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:mdstmary-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Dottie Himes Sent: Tuesday, November 11, 2008 3:53 PM To: mdstmary@rootsweb.com Subject: [MDSTMARY] Hamilton Alexander and Elizabeth Shercliffe-CORRECT Hello Shirley Moller and all the Group.
