He was the son of Henry Lewis Goddard and Harriett Norris. Ben was married three times. His first wife was Mary Ellen Stone (dau. of Peter H. Stone and Jane E. Greenwell) whom he married at St. Aloysius RCC on January 3, 1858. Mary Ellen was born in 1839 and died 1866-1869. His second wife was Maria E. Evans who died in February 1880 and whom he married at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church on June 15, 1869. His third wife was Ann Maria Winters whom he married July 30, 1883. She survived him and was living as late as 1910. Was your great-grandmother's name Alice Catherine or Catherine Alice? I couldn't find the family in 1870 for some reason, but they're listed in 1880. The Goddards lived in the 2nd District--the same area as Porto Bello. 1880, 2nd Dist., Thomas Store, St. Mary's Co.: Benjamin Goddard 50, farmer, widower Samuel Goddard 21, son Kate Goddard 19, dau.
