Linda That's a new approach. I only have David Evans in that land in 1726 and that name doesn't appear much connected with the Abells. Do you think Eleanor, David's wife was a Booth? I have David Evans buying land from Andrew Foy, Feb 14, 1718 in Resurrection Manor Weliclose. -Saint Mary's Hundred 182. 0.7.3-1/2. Surveyed Apr 22, 1698 for Wm Asquith. Benjamin Tippett's survey book 12/1/1787 as "Catherine Abell" (wife of Cuthbert) buying from Philip Reed land called & classified as Wills Close. On 3/7/1791 has a Cuthbert Abell from Pollard Hopewell. 1/1786 will of Cuthbert gives land to son, Clarke. Clarke Abell sells to Barbary Thomas & heirs of John Corum 8/12/1804 Mary, Matthew, and Francis Abell deeded "Well Close", "Brother's Dread", "Hammett's Beginning", and "The Hammer", 132 ac. to Enoch Hammett in 1814 (Chr. of SM). Tom, Tom Jennings or list, I don't know how far you have studied the children of Peter Abell and Lucy Carmen, But according to many web sites they claim that Peter Abell and Lucy CARMEN had a son Ignatius ABELL born abt 1775 who married Christina Katherine POLK(E) born Sep 1776 Washington, Pennsylvania married on 22 Dec 1794 , Nelson, Kentucky I don't know if Ignatius Abell and Christina Katherine POLK(E)dates of birth are correct. Christina Katherine POLK(E) daughter( of Edmond POLKE born 1740 , Prince George's, Maryland died 9 May 1825 , Bullitt, Kentucky and Mary FULTZ) Then they claim that Ignatius ABELL born abt 1775 who married Christina Katherine POLK Had a daughter Mary Abell born 1 Jan 1795 , Nelson, Kentucky who married George MEDCALF. Here is that marriage Nelson Co Ky Marriages 1833-1848 (NCGR) George Medcalf & Mary Abell Bond: 4 May 1835 M: May 1835 William King signed bond Katherine Abell, mother of Mary, filed consent w/bond W: William King, Nancy King Married by W S Coomes, minister return George MEDCALF was a son of John Kenelem MEDCALF and Winifred PAYNE his sister Nancy MEDCALF married William KING son of Jacob KING and Ann ABELL Nelson Co Ky Marriages 1817-1832, NCGR William King & Nancy Medcalf Bond: 15 Oct 1818 M: 16 Oct 1818 Philip Read signed bond William, s/o Jacob King Nancy, d/o John K Medcalf Married by Joshua Morris, minister return Ann ABELL was a daughter of George ABELL and Elizabeth CRAWFORD. Wit: Cornelius King, John Houston & William Cleaver. Exec. wife Elizabeth and son William. So I followed this family in Baptismal Records. Here is the Baptismal records of children of George MEDCALF and Mary ABELL MEDCALF, GEORGE & MARY "POLLY" ABELL Baptized John Francis Medcalf, by Rev. Athanasius A. Aud at St. Thomas Catholic Church. Birth date, 12-07-1836. Sponsor, Charlotte Margaret Dever. Parents: George Medcalf and Mary Abell. Baptized William Medcalf, 3-10-1838, by Rev. Athanasius A. Aud at St. Thomas Catholic Church. Birth date, 3-03-1838. Sponsor, Winifred Medcalf. Parents: George Medcalf and Polly Abell. Baptized (son) Medcalf, 7-11-1841, by Rev. Athanasius A. Aud at St. Thomas Catholic Church. Birth date, 7-09-1841. Sponsor not shown. Parents: George Medcalf and Mary Abell. Baptized Winifred Ann Medcalf, 1-26-1846, by Rev. Daniel Kelly at St. Thomas Catholic Church. Birth date, 12-09-1845. Sponsor, Martha Medcalf. Parents George and Mary Medcalf. It appears George MEDCALF doesn't live long enough to appear on 1850 Census, but his wife Mary ABELL (MEDCALF) does and if you notice Mary ABELL was born between 1813-1815. This makes me wonder then if somewhere we have an error in dates of birth because obviously Mary Abell was not born 1 Jan 1795 , Nelson, Kentucky Unless people have assumed that Mary ABELL born 1 Jan 1795 , Nelson, Kentucky was the one who married George MEDCALF Or that date of birth is actually the date of birth of George MEDCALF not his wife Mary Abell. You see my opinion is that's about the time George MEDCALF was likely born. 1850 Dist 2 Nelson Co Ky HH 257 Mary Metcalf 37 Ky (Mary ABELL)born abt 1813 John F 13 Ky William 12 Ky Charles 8 Ky Elizabeth 6 Ky Winifred 4 f Ky 1860 Cen Poplar Neck, Nelson Co, Ky; p 25 HH 217/220 (same page) Metcalfe, Mary 46 f w famer 700/465 KY (ca 1814) William 22 m w laborer 100 Ky Charles 18 m w laborer 170 Ky (Charles MEDCALF married Sarah "Sallie" E. And I would like some proof of children of Peter ABELL and Lucy CARMEN. I want to be sure that Mary ABELL wife of George MEDCALF has the correct parents, and I would like to know her correct date of birth.
At this point, I don't know if Eleanor was a Booth or not. Obviously the name Booth was important to the family. When David, Sr. died his appraisers were John and Samuel Abell as seen below. Admin. accts. of David Evans 5/15/1735 and 6/30/1735; appraisers were John Abell and Samuel Abell; next of kin was Susanna Evans and Elizabeth (should be Alice) Hebb; Exec., Henry Tucker (Skinner) That's all I find, but at least we know they all lived in the same area.
