LIST- I have a five Cuthbert Abell's and Peden in Rev. Patriots of Calvert and STM p1 says there is much confusion in sorting who is who since three are all same time frame and two married Marys. 1. Cuthbert is born bef. 1724 (if he was 18 at son's birth) earlier marriage than those to Mary Milburn or Mary Clarke. Jourdan. Colonial Records of Southern Families. p93 ABELL, Caleb, son of Cuthbert b. 10 Apr 1742 Jourdan. Colonial Records of Southern Families. Caleb Abell m. Mary Williams 29 Dec 1763 p134 Children: Jeremiah Williams Abell 2 Apr 1766 p119 Elizabeth Abell p 93 12 Nov 1767 Rachel Abell 29 Sep 1772 p104 This Cuthbert prob. appears on Rent Rolls in 1744 in New Town on Wiseman's Chance, 1753 Debt Books St. Clements on Wiseman's Chance. If he was Cuthbert son of John Abell I, John's 1746 will says "my land already divided" I have no other land records to know who got Wiseman's Chance or where it came from. It doesn't appear to have gone to future Abells or passed to Caleb. I have no land records on Caleb at all and nothing on him after after 1772. 2. Cuthbert who married Mary Clark, I have son of John I died bef. 3 Jan 1786. because he names a son Clark and Clark ends up with part of grandfather John's, Abells Chance by 1786. 3. Cuthbert who married Mary Milburn died bef Oct 1795, due to Orphan's Court Record and is probably: Cuthbert Abell Saint Mary's County, MD dated: 13 Nov 1794 probated: 27 Jan 1795 JJ#2, f106-107 One unk. source gives a death date of 2 Dec 1794 I have him as Cuthbert, Jr. son of Cuthbert d.1786 4. Cuthbert son of Enoch, grandson of John I was born bef 1760 if he took Oath of Allegiance (3 Cuthberts). I have him NOT the eldest son of Enoch, and got remainder of Enoch's land split with wife and brother Francis: 24 a. SLIPE on 1798 Tax list No land for Francis? 5. Cuthbert son of Clark, too young to be on Oath. -----Original Message----- From: Thomas Jennings <consettct@gmail.com> Sent: Wednesday, April 08, 2009 7:48 AM To: mdstmary@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [MDSTMARY] Cuthbert Abell Jerry, Clarke Abell, s/o Cuthbert Abell & Mary Clarke, who wed Catherine Hutchins, also had a son Cuthbert.
