Need to ask for help or information as to where I might find evidence of an ancestor as being an Inn Keeper or Tavener. The ancestor is Maramaduke Semmes, of St. Mary's Co. b ?? dead by March 1792/3 m to Fortuna ? Mitford by about 1769 St. Mary's Co. MD. Harry W. Newman in his book "Md Semmes and Kindred Families, p 2 gives: "On Feb 23 1674/5 , as Marmaduke Semmes, of St. Mary's Co,., INHOLDER , he bought from Andrew Woodberry, of Salem in New England, Mariner for ..... the tract "Middle Plantation".... Would a full account of the above deed possibly mentioned "Inkeeper" or ? Possibly another source listing Inn keepers or taveners ? Appreciate any suggestion anyone has. Thanks Mary Ann Shoemaker
