St. Mary's Co., Court (Land Records) A 1:45 At the request of Joseph Ford the following deed from John L Millard and Sympho Rosa Millard his wife to Joseph Ford, Henry A Ford Lewis I Ford and Louisa F Ford with the endorsement thereon of the former enrolment was recorded under and by virtue of an ac of the General assembly of Maryland passed at December Session Eight= teen hundred and thirty one. Chapter one hundred and Seventy five. This Indenture made this seventeenth day of July in the year of our Lord one thous= and eight hundred and twenty seven between John L Millard and Sympho Rosa his wife of Saint Marys County in the State of Maryland of the one part and Joseph Ford Henry A Ford Lewis I Ford and Louisa F Ford children of the said Sympho Rosa of the other part Witnesseth that the said John L Millard and his wife Sympho Rosa as wll for and in consideration of the natural love and affection which they have and bear unto the said Joseph Ford Henry A Ford Lewis I Ford and Louisa F Ford as also for the better maintenance support livelihood and preferment of them the said Joseph Ford Henry A Ford Lewis I Ford and Louisa F Ford have given granted aliened enfeoffed and confirmed and by these presents do give grant alien enfeoff and confired unto them the said Joseph Ford Henry A Ford Lewis I Ford and Louisa F Ford their heirs and assigns forever all that tract piece or parcel of land being part of a larger tract or parcel of land called and Known by the name of "Gillmoth Hills" containing by estimation one hundred and twenty acres more or less lying and being in Saint Marys County aforesaid and agreeably to a deed of conveyance for the same from Francis Herbert to Frances Hill (mother of the said Sympho Rosa and to whom the same land descended at the death of the said Frances Hill, bearing date the thirtieth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty five and recorded in Liber I H No 7 folios 274 & 275 one of the land records of Saint Marys County reference beign thereto had will at large and more fully appear reserving and serving to the said John L Millard and Sympho Rosa his wife the full free and entire liberty and right to cut and procure timber for the repairs of the houses and fences in their farm in Medleys Neck from the said tract of land and premises hereby conveyed to the said Joseph Ford Henry A Ford Lewis I Ford and Louisa F Ford without the interruption or interfearance of either the said Joseph Ford Henry A Ford Lewis I Ford and Louisa F Ford so long as they the said John L Millard and Sympho Rosa his wife may own and possess that said farm in Medleys neck and also to the said Joseph Ford one negro girl named Eliza aged aabout twelve years to him and his heirs forever to the said Henry A Ford one negro girl naed Emmy aged about fourteen years to him and his heirs forever to the said Lewis I Ford one negro girl named Symphy aged about twelve years to him and his heirs forever and to the said Louisa F Ford one negro girl named Lucy Ann aged about eight years to her and her heirs forever together with all and singular the houses buildings advantage emoluments hereditaments and appertenances whatsoever to the said tract of land and premises hereby mentioned or intended to be granted and confirmed unto the said Joseph Ford Henry A Ford Lewis I Ford and Louisa F Ford (except as before reserved) as aforesaid or any part or parcel thereof belonging or in any wise appertaining or therewithall commonly held use occupied or enjoyed or accepted reputed taken or known as part or parcel of or belong =ing to the same and the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders rents issues and profits of all and singular the said premises with the appertenances and all the estate right title interest property claim and demand whatsoever of them the said John L Millard and Sympho Rosa his wife of in and to the said tract of land and premises (except as before reserved) and of in and to the said herein before mentioned negro slaves as above named specified granted enfeoffed and conveyed and of in anf to every part and parcel of the said above described land and premises with their and every of their appertenances (save as before reserv= ed) TO HAVE and TO HOLD the said tract of land and premises together with the said several negroes slaves as above mentioned and all and Singular other the premises hereby grant- ed and confirmed or mentioned or intended so to be with their and every of their appertenan= =ces unto the said Joseph Ford Henry A Ford Lewis I Ford and Louisa F Ford their heirs and assigns forever as tenants in common and not joint tenants in and unto the said land and premises as above mentioned and described and the said negroes above named to them the said Joseph Ford Henry A Ford Lewis I Ford and Louisa F Ford Seperately as herein before specified and designated to the only proper use and behoof of the said Joseph ford Henry A Ford Lewis I ford and Louisa F Ford their heirs and assigns for= ever and the said John L Millard and Sympho Roas his wife for themselves their heirs exec= =utors and administrators do covenant grant and agree to and witht the said Joseph Ford Henry A Ford Lewis I Ford and Louisa F Ford their heirs and assigs by thes presents that they the said Joseph Ford Henry A Ford Lewis I Ford and Louisa F Ford their heirs and assigns shall and lawfully may time to all times hereafter peaceably and quietly have hold use occupy possess and enjoy the said land premises together with the said negroes hereby granted and confirmed or mentioned or intended to be hereby granted and confirmed with the appertenances unto the said land belonging free and clear and fully dis= =charged or well and sufficiently saved Kept harmless and indemnified of from and against all former and other gifts grants bargains Sales Jointures feoffments dowers estates entails rents rent charges arrearages of rents Judgments executions and of from and against all former and other titles troubles charges and incumbrances whatsoever had down or suffered or to be had made done or suffered by her the said John L Millard & his wife Sympho Rosa or their heirs and assigns or any other person or persons lawfully claiming or to claim by from or under them or either or any of them. In Testimony of which they the said John L Millard and Sympho Rosa his wife have hereunto signed their name and set their Seals the day and year above written. J. L. Millard Seal of us Tho H Miles Hatch Turne Maryland Saint Marys County to wit: Be it known that on this Seventeenth day of July in the year of Eighteen hundred and twenty seven personally appeared John L Millard and Sympho Rosa Millard his wife the party grantors to the within deed before us the Subscribers two Justices of the peace of the State of Maryland for Saint Marys County aforesaid and acknow= ledge the said within deed or instrument of writing to be their act and deed and the lands and premises together with the negroes therein mentioned and thereby granted enfeoffed and con= veyed to be the right and estate and property of the said Joseph Ford Henry A Ford Lewis I Ford and Louisa F Ford parties grantees also therein named their heirs and assigns forever according to the purport true intent and meaning thereof and the acts of assembly in such case made and provided and now at the same time the said Sympho Rosa Willard being by us privately examined a part from and out of the hearing of her husband "whether she doth make her acknowledgment of the same willingly and freely and without being induced thereto by fear or threats of or ill usage by her husband or fear of his displeasure" acknowldeged and declares that she doth make her acknowledgement of the same willingly and freely and with being induced thereto by fear or threats of or ill usage by her husband or fear of his displeasure.
