I'm wondering if James Howard (my 5th great-grandfather) may have apprenticed as a shoemaker with Thomas Thompson (my 6th great-grandfather). James' son Charles Howard married Thomas' granddaughter Frances Ann "Panny" Thompson in 1800 in Washington county, Kentucky. I'm beginning to suspect Henry Howard (died before 24 Aug 1775) as the father of James. >From Judith Burger in 2002 MARYLAND CALENDAR OF WILLS, VOL 15, 1772-1774, Baldwin/Cotton, p. 30, FTMCD 206 Jerningham, Henry, St. Mary's Co., 19 Nov 1772 6 Jan 1773 . Also I give to my son Joseph one- third part of the crop which shall be made on the aforesaid plantation, and one-third part of my poultry, my case of drawers, and my second best cow and calf which my belong to me at my death,--Also I give my sheep to my son Joseph and my son-in-law James Raper (Rapier) to be equally divided between them.
