You folks are really great ! I am going to call her {wife #2} a Thompson, but note that some sources show her as an Abell. That way, a future researcher should be alerted to the potential conflict of information. I have only one more First Lady Lady item on tap for our series in the "Generator" on the 3 First Ladies w/ Southern Maryland ancestry: the connection between General "Dick" Taylor's daughter to the McIlhenny Tobasco sauce people at Avery Island, Louisiana. The 3 First Ladies have been: Mrs. General U. S. Grant; Mrs. John Quincy Adams; & Mrs. General Zachary Taylor. We carried the Louisa Catherine Johnson Adams line the farthest - to her uncle Gov. Thomas Johnson of Maryland & down to the line to historian Henry Adams, who spoke of his "quarter taint" of Maryland blood. If there are any others, please let me know. "Famous People" series - I am starting with Archbishop Spalding; I am planning on including Don Mattingly, Paris Hilton, Roy Rogers, Chief Justice Roger B. Taney, Bishop Fenwick of Boston, Barton W. Stone {a founder of the Disciples of Christ/Christian Church} .... who else would you suggest ? Who am I missing ? I'm looking for people w/ roots in St. Mary's County - or Charles &/or Calvert - but would like at least some connection to St. Mary's. Again, the commercial ! If you are not a member of the St. Mary's County Genealogical Society, please consider joining us & contributing to the "Generator." Thanks again, everybody ! C. - d. 1866 Owensboro, KY :: William Hendley Barron b. 1793 d. 1827 m. Leannah Mason 1798-1824 This gets you into the George Mason "Gunston Hall" line - "Father of the Bill of Rights" pretty important line here - which itself connects into Southern Maryland :: Hendley Barron ca. 1750 Prince George's County - d. 1824 Prince William County, VA m. Margery Cox. b. ca. 1760 - Charles County - d. 1847 :: Thomas Barron died 1805 - Charles County :: Thomas Barron b. ca. 1700 Charles County d. 1757 - Charles County son of John Barron of Charles County Thomas m. Priscilla Coolsey b. 1705 Charles County D. 1757 Charles County daughter of Samuel Cooksey of Charles County & Christine Tennison of St. Mary's County Now, how accurate this is - that's for you folks to tell me ..... I do see we need to get George Mason into our "Important People" series - as well as his current "celebrity" descendant. PLEASE CHECK THIS OVER & COMMENT. Thanks !
