Hi Donn, Not sure how much this will help. I looked at this property a while ago and and wouldlove to know more about Clement and his children. Here are my notes: Newtons Rest is recorded in the SMC Debt books in 1753, 54, and 55 for Clement Newton. If it is Clement Jr., then he would need to be born before 1735. Its possible but not likely since Clement Jr. was not the oldest son and Clement Sr. was born abt 1720. The nephew - Clement Newton (b. bef 1756 d. 1798) son of Thomas Newton (b. 1726 d. 1772) m. Jemmia Thomas - They lived on the tract called Browns Wood House. The land came to them through Jemmia's father James Thomas. So I ruled him out. Clement Netwon, Sr. (d. 1760) left all his land to his son Joseph. Joseph was the admin for his will. I have not found any records to show that Joseph owned any property. Joseph married Mildred ???, some say she is Mildred Knott or Mildred Greenwell. I have not been able to verify either of these claims. In 1788 Newtons Rest and Newtons Addition show up in Alienations and Transfers - George Abell to John Abell, Sr. In 1788 Newtons Rest and Newtons Addition show up in Alienations and Transfers - John Abell Sr. to Samuel Abell Sr. In 1788 Newtons Rest and Newtons Addition show up in Alienations and Transfers - Samuel Abell Sr. to Thomas Greenwell. So, who died in 1788 leaving the land to George Abell? In 1789 Part of Netwons Rest (10.75A) shows up in Alienations and Transfers - from ?? to Raphael Brown who married Elizabeth Raley. In 1799 Part of Newtons Rest (10.75A) shows up in Alienations and Transfers - Raphel Brown to Timothy Bowes who married Mary Abell dau. of Samuel Abell Sr. IN 1826 Part of Newtons Rest (10.75A) shows up in Alienations and Transfers - Joseph Mills to Thomas J. Greenwell In 1818 Newtons Rest and Newtons Additiion Alienations and Transfers - James Forest to William F. Greenwell.
