There's much too confusion. At this point, I know only that: Robert Clarke (d. 1783-1788) was a brother of Thomas Clarke (d. 1783). I'm going back and recreating, looking, etc. One find, a major one, if I'm right. Mary (Langley), widow of Thomas Clarke (not the same Thomas who had a wife named Susanna), had a daughter named Cynthia. I had no further record of Cynthia, but now I think I do. Between the time that Mary (Langley) Clarke made her will and the time it was probated, her brother-in-law, Ignatius Clarke had died and her estate was being administered by Charles Clarke. 4/1790: Petition of Charles Clarke asking for an allowance for boarding, schooling, and clothing the orphans of Mary Clarke; the court ordered that he settle his account first. (Orphan Ct. Rec., Fenwick). (Note: This is Mary Langley, widow of Thomas Clarke). 12/18/1792: Admin. accts. of Mary Clarke, SMC. Admin.: Charles Clarke. To: Cynthia Clarke. To: 2 children, equally: Ignatius Clarke, Ann Clarke. (SMC Balances and Distributions). 4/19/1789: bapt., at St. Ign., Charles of Charles and Lynda Clark. GP: Ign. and Anna Clark. (Jesuit Missions). 6/7/1789: Bapt., at St. Ign., nig. of Charles and Syna (Lynda?) Clark. (Jesuit Missions). I'm pretty much convinced at this point that Cynthia, named in the will of her mother as Cynthia (wrong interpetation of her first name) Clarke, was not a daughter of Thomas Clarke but rather she was Alanda Biscoe, daughter of Mary Langley and her first husband, Jonathan Biscoe and she married Charles Clarke. Will of Jonathan Biscoe, SMC, St. Inigoes Hundred, probated 8/10/1775. Wife: Mary, my land during widowhood and Siney and Will, then to daughter Alanda Biscoe; if she dies without issue to Biscoe Smith, son of John Biscoe Smith and if he tries to sell the land, to go to the next heir at law. Daughter: Aleinda to be brought up in the Church of England. John Biscoe, Jr. and William Langley, Jr. trustees of my daughter Alanda. No Exec. named. Wit: F. Gilbert, John Tennison, William Richardson. The widow of the deceased refuses to stand to the will. I'll be working on this for awhile today, but that's where I am so far. Donnelly claims that Charles Clarke was the son of Thomas Clarke (d. 1777) and Susanna Heard. If he was, Thomas was keeping it a secret because his will certainly does not name a son, Charles. Recently I was able to prove  that Margaret CLARK who married Joseph FOGLE in Nelson Co. Ky was  my 4th great grandmother. I contacted Jerry asking if he had learned anything  more about this Margaret CLARK since a posting he made in 2006 asking about  her. He suggested that we take our discussion to the list.   Margaret (CLARK) FOGLE died on 5 December 1859 in LaRue Co.  Ky. The death register list's her age as 92 making her birth about 1767.  She was born in Maryland to Thomas & Mary CLARK.   Jerry's reply to my email was that he hadn't learned any more about  this Margaret CLARK but knowing that her parents where Thomas & Mary.  The likely candidates are Thomas CLARK and Mary LANGLEY   I found an excerpt of a will for Mary Langley Clark in the archives:   Will of Mary Clarke, SMC, 3/8/1788-6/3/1788. Daughter:  Cynthia Clarke, a horse named Pompey and a mare named Fly. Son: Ignatius Clarke,  three negroes named Charles, Robert, and Linah. He is to receive his estate at  the age of 18. Daughter: Ann Clarke, four negroes named Abraham, Jacob, Ninian,  and Grace. Brother: Ignatius Clarke, is to take my children with their estate   and to act as a guardian to them. Exec: Brother, Ignatius Clarke and Son,   Ignatius Clarke. Wit: Richard Barnhouse, George Pembroke, John Horn  Clarke. Margaret is not mentioned in this will. There is an Ignatius Clark who   shows up in Nelson Co. Ky could this be the same Ignatius mentioned in the will?  Could Ann Clarke have been Margaret Ann? Has anyone seen the probate records for  this estate?     Ann Gilchrest   ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
