    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: fzsfzs Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.maryland.counties.stmarys/4519.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I would suggest that you ask for the document listed here: http://genforum.genealogy.com/swearingen/messages/3786.html If Mark's e-mail is no longer valid, I would be glad to send a copy of the article by Fons van Weiringen. There are scans of tax records (that were taken every four years) showing Gerrit van Sweringen holding land at Rijnsterwoude (Rynsterwoude) from 1664 to 1696. Garret of course died in 1698. The 1700 tax does not survive, and he is not listed in the 1704 book. Note also that on the 1661 list from Amsterdam sailing to New Amstel that in addition to listing "Gerrit van Schweringen" that there was a "Gerrit de Groott of Ryntsterwoude." http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nycoloni/shpur2.html Also, the land for which Gerrit van Sweringen was taxed at Rijnsterwoude (Rynsterwoude) came from Dammas Gerrits de Groot. As for baptisms, while there are Dutch Reformed Church records in 1636, the Catholic records from that location apparently do not survive at that time. As you will see when you read the 19 page article, there are still a few loose ends, which if the records can be found would add to the evidence presented in the article as to his ancestry.
