Thompson and his family roots are in Bardstown Kentucky. His parents are Coleman and Joyce Thompson. Joyce’s maiden name was Thomas. He paternal grandmother was Mildred Thompson. He has a first cousin, who is also a priest, named Dr. Dale Cieslik. (I gleaned all of this from this week’s special edition of The Message, Evansville Diocese Newspaper.)
