Was Levi A. Nugent born abt. 1780; died 1865? Son of Willebay Nugent & Rebecca Catherine Ross? Did he marry Sarah Royse (1794-1856), sister to Rebecca/Rebeckah Royse? Was Sarah & Rebecca Royse's mother's maiden name Nugent? ----- Original Message ----- From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Sent: Wednesday, June 15, 2011 11:57:34 PM Subject: [MDSTMARY] Jarboe, McFall, Nugent This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. My own line (no Jarboes as far as I know at this point) contains both McFall and Nugent descendants who intermarried in various ways. Specifically, I'm wondering if you happen to know anything about where your Ruth McFall comes from, and exactly which Nugents intermarried into your line. My 4th-great grandfather Henry Nugent was christened 21 Sep 1777 in St. Marys Co., and my 3rd-great grandfather Barnabas McFall b. abt 1795 KY is my brickwall. I've seen one reference -- in an old genealogy newsletter -- that states that my Barnabas McFall and Levi Augustus Nugent (my Henry Nugent's little brother) were cousins, and that's how Barnabas and Levi happened to marry sisters -- Levi introduced his cousin Barnabas to his (Levi's) sister-in-law Rebecca Royse (b. 1796 Nelson Co., KY). However, I can't find any evidence of Barnabas being a blood relative to anyone at all, much less my Nugent line. Perhaps the Jarboes know something, or can point me in a likely direction? -- Constance Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Hello! Yes, the Levi Augustus Nugent in my post is (or maybe I should say is generally believed to be) a son of Willebay/Willeby/Willoby/Willoughby Nugent and Rebecca Ross. According to my notes (gleaned from the work of other researchers) Levi was named in (and an executor of) Willeby's will. However, I haven't yet looked at Willeby's will myself in order to verify this (but that's now on my ToDo list). I do have a birth date for Levi of 2 Oct 1792 (this comes from his tombstone in Red Cross Cemetery, Marion Twp., Lawrence Co., Indiana) http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=19146276 and his obit (published on 27 Sep 1865 in the "Bedford Independent", Bedford, Lawrence Co., Indiana) states that Levi was born in St. Mary's Co., Maryland. Documentation of the marriage of "Barnebas McFall" and "Rebekah Royes" (sic) on 29 Jul 1813 in Harrison Co., Indiana can be seen in the Indiana State Library's online database http://web.isl.lib.in.us/INMarriages1850/marriages_display.asp?ID=203385 but unfortunately I've not yet located specific documentation of Levi and Sarah's marriage (although I do have a reference that it may have occurred on 13 Jan 1811 in Clark Co., Indiana). With respect to Sarah and Rebecca Royse's mother's maiden name, the general consensus seems to be that it was Sarah DeWitt. Thanks for your post. It definitely pointed out some avenues I should pursue further (e.g. I might profit from better documentation of Levi Augustus Nugent, Sarah Royse, and Sarah DeWitt). I'll post again when I know more. -- Constance On 6/16/2011 6:33 AM, [email protected] wrote: > Was Levi A.
