Bonnie The way I interpret all the wills etc I have found so far is: John Burroughs had two daughters that married Cartwrights. Sarah (dau of John Burroughs and Mary Keech) who married John Cartwright son of Matthew d 1689. Margaret who married John Cartwright a grandson of Matthew. Even though you have to believe that one married a son and the other a grandson of Matthew, this is the way the information that I have fits. Someone suggested that the Sarah Carter name should have been Canter, even though her name is listed as Carter in all records of her, this may still be possible. I have never found anything on this Carter? she married. Burroughs, John, planter,St. Mary's Co., Will drawn: 13th Mar., 1715-6; Probate: 5th Dec., 1717. Randy In Sarah Carters will written in 1733 she names Mary and Matthew Cartwright as her children. Your version does not account for these Cartwright children. She names Mary Cartwright admx, who later becomes Mary Wilks in later accountings. A Sarah Cartwright was admx of the will of John Cartwright and filed July 1710, not Margaret. As far as I know John Cartwright and wife Margaret Burroughs were alive after 1758. The inventory of the Matthew who married Elizabeth Dyson seems to show he was the Matthew Cartwright in Sarah Carters will, so he was not the child of Margaret as she was still alive in 1758, but not involved in his inventory. Hi Will, Son of Peter Cartwright and Judith Sye: MATTHEW CARTWRIGHT, b. Bet. 1708 - 1713, St. Mary's Co., MD; d. 1772, Fairfax Co., VA; m. MARY CARTER, Bef. 1733, MD; b. Bef. 1718, St. Mary's Co., MD; d. Aft. 1757. This is Sarah's dau, Mary Cartwright, mentioned in the will. Mathew is the Mathew Cartwright mentioned in the will. She called him a son. Not sure who Sarah Cartwright, mentioned in the will of John Cartwright, is. Could be a daughter or even a mispelling, I have not reseached it.
