I'm pretty sure of my Quades back to Charles Llewellen Quade (1836-1921) and maybe one generation earlier to James Henry Quade (1806-1860). I was just wondering what the consensus of opinion is for the descendants of either of them. What is proven is what I'm trying to determine. Phoebe Harten Greenwell's father, George Ridley Harten, from Solomon's, MD, was a younger brother to my great-great grandmother, Margaret Harten Reid. I, along with other Harten relations, have been working on the Harten family line (of Irish descent)for several years. Unfortunately I only have very limited information on James and Phoebe Harten Greenwell's family; it would be great to receive any assistance you can offer. I do know that they had at least twelve children in the family: Gertrude Helen Greenwell (Norris), Catherine Marie Greenwell (Abell), Elizabeth Alberta Greenwell (Gatton), George Sterling Greenwell, Mary Elizabeth Greenwell (Hayes Kelly), Thomas James Greenwell, George Daniel Greenwell, Joseph Peter Greenwell, John Aloysius Greenwell, Louis Edward Greenwell, Mary Ann Greenwell (Updyke) and Joseph Benedict Greenwell. I understand that two of these children may still be living? I did find Pheobe's burial recorded in a cemetery in Washington DC; but have found no death/burial for her husband, James Greenwell and I would like to try to get the same information, such as birth dates, death dates, marriages, spouses and children, etc for their twelve children (although I believe one son may have died in WWII and another son may have been a priest, but I'm not sure.) Would be more than happy to share info on the Harten side of this family with you if you are interested. It would probably be best to communicate offline via the following email address: kperago@comcast.net. Again, thank you for your response, it is much appreciated. It is also nice to hear from another distant Harten cousin. Keith H Perago Harrisburg, PA Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I've probably posted something similar before, but I'm still looking for information on William Howard who may have been the brother of the Thomas Howard who went to Nelson County, Kentucky and died there in 1810. He is not the William Howard born bef. 1665, died 1730 who was married to Mary Melton, or his son William Howard Jr. born bef. 1696, died 1753 who was married to Sarah Smith. If he was the brother of Thomas he would have also been a son of Edward Howard, who was probably born before 1707. I base this William's age on the following record. Timothy O'Rourke, compiler, Catholic Families of Southern Maryland, "State of His Lordship's Manors, 1766, 1767, 1768, Rent Rolls", reprinted by Genealogical Publishing Company, 2003:46 45.[No. of lot or plat] (A) Dec. 25, 1741 [Date of Lease]; (B) Thomas Howard [To Whom Leased]; (C) 80-1/4 [No. of Acres]; (D) Athanatius Ford [Tenant in Possession]; (E) 0-8-9 [Annual Rent]; (F) 1-14-0 [Alienation Fine/Fines Due]; (L) William Howard, Thomas Howard, Nicholas Howard [On What Lives or Term of Years/now held]; (M) William 40, Thomas 28, Nicholas 30 [Ages of Persons mentioned in the Lease and other remarks]. This would mean William was born about 1728, Thomas about 1740 and Nicholas (also unknown) about 1738. William Howard is also listed in the following records. I think they could all be the same man. John, I have the same questions you do. If she wasn't Ann Blackistone, it was someone who had close ties to the Blackistone family. John, I have Ann Blackistone married to John Dunbar, Jr. (son of John Dunbar who died in 1709 and Ann who m. second, Thomas Underwood). John Dunbar, Jr. was living as late as 1750. Will of James Dunbar, SMC 7/1/1750-9/24/1750. Father: John, use of negroes. Niece: Henrietta Guibert, negroes George and Hannah after the death of my father and "Timberneck" now in the possession of Thomas Underwood. To: John Coad, son of John negroes Nessy and Nell after my father's death. Exec: Father, John Dunbar. Wit: James Dickson, John Somerville, John Guibert. Coode Hello all. I am doing some research and need clarification on a couple of items: 1) When Elizabeth (Gerard) Blackistone Rhymer Guibert (daughter of Thomas Gerard I and Susanna Snow--as well as Widow of Nehemiah Blackistone, Ralph Rhymer, and Joshua Guibert I) wrote her Will in SMC in 1716, she apparently clearly named her daughter, "Ann Blackistone"--not "Ann Coode." This would indicate that Ann Blackistone (daughter of Nehemiah Blackistone and Elizabeth Gerard) was still unmarried in 1716. When John Coode II (son of John Coode I and Susanna (Gerard) Slye) died in SMC in 1718, his Widow was, according to everyone, Ann (Blackistone) Coode (daughter of Nehemiah Blackistone and Elizabeth Gerard). It is possible that Ann Blackistone was the Widow of John Coode II but, if the Will of Elizabeth (Gerard) Blackistone Rhymer Guibert is interpreted as Wills are usually interpreted by this List, Ann Blackistone could not have married John Coode II (d. 1718) until after 1716. 2) Does anyone know what happened to Ann (Blackistone?) Coode after the death of John Coode II? There are, apparently, no documents related to the Administration of her Estate. She probably remarried. Years ago, researchers thought she married John Dunbar I--of course, the dates didn't work because John Dunbar I died in SMC in 1709--and, the Widow of John Dunbar I married (2--as his first wife) Thomas Underwood. So, why did anyone ever think that Ann (Blackistone?) Coode married a man named "John Dunbar"? I would very much appreciate any thoughts--proven or unproven--related to the above. As always, thanks! Thanks Linda. I looked at the will for Eleanor Wilson Turner and it names her daughter Sarah no last name. It then names her other daughter as Eleanor Turner. That is why I was wondering about her. Randy, When Eleanor (Wilson) Turner made her will in 1781 her daughter Sarah wasn't married. If Sarah later married John Edwards, she could be the mother of the younger children, but not the two oldest.
