Your comment piqued my interest, and I did a little research. Bardstown has deep Catholic roots, and the Sisters of Charity are based in the nearby town of Nazareth. A quick search on findagrave.com revealed several graves for Catholic sisters named Wathen interred in Nelson County, KY. None for Augusta Rebecca, but, if she did become a nun, she would have taken a different first name. All the best to you and happy New Year.     3. Would love to swap info. Trying to settle an age old question of whether my ancestress Eleanor O'Bryan was related to Phillip or William. She and Samuel Abell had children in St. Mary's County, MD, Many Abells left for Nelson then Washington County, KY ca 1790. Being female with no will or land of her own, she was only mentioned in the early Catholic records as godparent at birth of slaves in Jesuit archives. Sorting out the O'Bryans has been a headache. I have direct Irish Ancestry from Co.
