    3. Thanks Linda. what was peeking my curiosity was why Samuel Higgs was named as an Exec. for Luke Nichols. Knowing that Samuel Higges wife was named Jane, I am still not 100% sure she was Jane Branson, I wanted to see if she may have been Jane Coode. Since the deed from Luke Nichols and his wife Susannah Coode was made in 1752, there should be another one around the same time for the other half of the tract from Jane Coode. However Samuel Higgs Jr. would have been too young at that time to be married and Jane Coode too old to be his wife. It looks like Jane Coode may be the wife of Daniel Scott. It makes sense. The Coode's were close to the Scotts during that time frame. Luke Nichols was the Exec. for Mary Ching. Mary was the daughter of Edmund Farr. Out of curiosity do you see any relationship between them? 3. William Jenkins of Prince George's County made his will on 3/29/1791 in which he devised "Second Thought", where he was then living to his sister Ann Jenkins. On 10/8/1789, John Jenkins of Prince George's County made his will in which he named his children Ann Jenkins, William Jenkins and others. On 11/7/1786, John Jenkins deeded 200 acres of "Second Thought" to his son, William Jenkins for 300 lbs. current money of Maryland stipulating that if William died without issue, the land was to go to his (John's) daughter Ann Jenkins. PG Co. Deeds, HH, 230. On 11/26/1761, Daniel and JANE Scott of St. Mary's County sold 10 acres of "Second Thought" to John Jenkins for 3 lbs. "which is not yet already conveyed". Jane Scott "acknowledged that she was at age of 21" and gave up her right of dower in the said land. (PG Co. Deeds, RR, 177). I found no more deeds for Daniel and Jane Scott so I'm not sure what happened to the rest of the land. 3. You're right Randy. It's Coad/Coode vs. Goode. The property was "Second Thought." I didn't know Richard Coad and Judith Attaway had any children until you posted this. Will of John Coode, SMC, 2/27/1708-3/28/1709. Eldest son: John, "Pendreine" adj. Mattapany in St. Clement's Hundred. Second son: William, "Pissimore Point" where he now lives and land adjoining wehre John Tennison lived. To: Two eldest sons (John and William) jointly, the land and island bought from Richard Foster. Son: Richard, "Second Thought" above Rock Creek and jointly with three daughters Mary, Ann, and Winifred, the mill at Tomacookin and land adjoining bought from Oswell Dash. Wife: Elizabeth, Exec., during life, dwelling plantation "Bluff Point" running down Manalopson, and stock thereon for support of children she has by me. Wit: Philip Briscoe, Sr., Luke Barber, Edward Barber, Samuel Williamson. (Maryland Calendar of Wills). I'm sure you already know that Luke Nichols moved to North Carolina after 1768 and before 1790. "Genealogical Abstracts of Wills 1758 -1824, Halifax County, North Carolina," Margaret M. Hofmann - LUKE NICHOLS - 25 Sept 1790 - Nov. Ct 1790 lend wife SUSANNAH NICHOLS whole estate and after her death it to be sold and money divided amongst SOLOMON TURNER's children: BARNABAS TURNER, JOHN TURNER, and SUSANNAH TURNER and his daughter MARY TURNER having a double portion, brother JAMES NICHOLS 10 pounds. Wit: JAMES BAKER, SUSANAH HARRINGTON, RUTH BAKER Extrs: my wife and SAMUEL HIGGS. No idea about Jane. 3. Randy, I have the wife of John Edwards (d. 1784) as Sarah Reeves. Will of James Mills, SMC 12/27/1763-3/1/1764. To: Lydia Reeves, 5000 lbs. crop tobacco. Extract from will of Nappler Mills, SMC, 12/14/1783-9/3/1787. To: Miss Lydia Reeves, one feather bed; one quilt; one pair of sheets; one blanket; bedstead and cord; one mare; six cups and saucers; one teapot and cream mug; one pewter dish; six pewter plates; two barrels of wheat and two barrels of corn. Will of Lydia Reeves, SMC, 5/5/1795-8/10/1795. Sister: Sarah Edwards, my largest trunk with the wearing apparel it now contains and my silver buckles. Sister: Elizabeth Mills, wife of John Mills, Sr., the balance of my estate. Exec: Brother-in-law, John Mills, Sr., Wit: Mary Boulds and William Mills. (St. Mary's County, Maryland Wills, 1791-1802 by Linda Reno and Joann Humphries). I think Sarah, Lydia, and Elizabeth were the children of John Reeves. Descendants of John Reeves Generation No. 1 1. JOHN3 REEVES (UBGATE2, THOMAS1) was born Bef. 1716 in St. Mary's Co., MD, and died Aft. 1772 in Halifax Co., NC. Children of JOHN REEVES are: i. SARAH4 REEVES, b. Bef. 1740, St. Mary's Co., MD; d. Aft. 1801, St. Mary's Co., MD; m. JOHN EDWARDS, Bef. 1755, St. Mary's Co., MD; b. Bef. 1735, St. Mary's Co., MD; d. 1784, St. Mary's Co., MD. ii. LYDIA REEVES, b. Bef. 1742, St. Mary's Co., MD; d. 1795, St. Mary's Co., MD. iii. ELIZABETH REEVES, b. Bef. 1750, St. Mary's Co., MD; d. 1814, St. Mary's Co., MD; m. JOHN MILLS, Bef. 1765, St. Mary's Co., MD; b. Edwards I should correct myself here.... This is how I have put the two differnt John Edwards families together: Sarah "Sally" Turner married John Edwards (d. 1791) son of Robert Edwards (d. 1770) and Mary Burroughs not the John Edwards (d. 1784) son of Joseph Edwards Sr. (d. 1746) and his wife Mary. What is confusing is that both of these John Edwardes had daughters named Elizabeth Turner Edwards which were born about the same time. So, the John Edwards (d. 1784) was married 2 times. In my notes I have him married to an Elizabeth "Betsy" Turner, the sister of Sarah "Sally" Turner. Then to an unknown Sarah who some say was Sarah Reeves but I am wondering if it is not a Sarah Higgs but I will save that for a later day. This could be completely wrong and Elizabeth "Betsey" Turner could have married John Edwards (d. 1791) and her sister Sarah "Sally" Turner would have been his second wife. Of course, I am easily confused with this bunch so if anyone has any corrections or ideas, please feel free to comment. 3. I should correct myself here.... 1. Re: [MDSTMARY] RICHARD LANGHORN CLARK
    2. This is my notes concerning Eleanor GOUGH. Jerry, Linda decided a while back that Eleanor Gough married a "James Greenwell." In looking again at Priscilla Gough's administration accounts, I noticed this. 8/15/1770: Admin. accts. of Priscilla Gough, SMC. Received from: Stephen Gough due from estate of James Gough. Payments to: James Pike, Zachariah Forrest, Owen Allen. Legatees: Stephen Gough, Ignatius Gough, William Jenkins, James Greenwell, accountant. Exec.: James Gough. (Admin. accts. of the Prerogative Court of Maryland, Libers, 59-66, 1768-1771 by V. L. Skinner, Jr.). NOTE: This record is not on CD #206. This last account has just killed two birds (or more) with one stone. Elizabeth Gough, daughter of James and Priscilla, was married to WILLIAM Jenkins, not John Jenkins (per Donnelly). Eleanor Gough, daughter of James and Priscilla, married JAMES Greenwell. As was the norm, the sons-in-law have been paid their wives' share of Priscilla's estate. Not sure at this point which James Greenwell that Eleanor was married to--there are several contenders. Linda Reno Jerry L. 3. i got this records about 12 years ago from tom jennings.. i haven't researched philip b. key other then to know he married rebecca jowels sothoron. as we study our families "facts" few traces remain of the personalities. i was at christ church in chaptico when linda reno pointed out philp b. key's grave.. if my recollection is accurate, it was rebecca jowles sothoron who the first wife of key.. key asked that rebecca be exhumed and her casket be laid on top of his casket at christ church in chaptico. the key / sothoron / edwards families have rubbed elbows for a long time. i think the joseph edwards here is of robert edwards.. here's the record i got from tom.. *1798 *Federal Direct Tax for Upper and Lower St. Clements (St. Mary's > Co.
