    1. [MDSTMARY] Joseph Hamilton and/or Wm Hamilton and Anastasia [Coombes]
    2. K Woodring
    3. Okay, listers. More mud to sling up... So far I have found more evidence backing that Joseph Hamilton was the husband of Anastasia Coombes.   Does anyone have evidence that Wm's wife Anastatia was last name of "Coombes" besides the will references of the Coombes naming Anastasia Hamilton which everyone says must be William's Anastasia?  I saw somewhere that she may have been Anastasia GREEN.  Was there an Anastasia GREEN b. 29 Sep 1718 d 1763 Chas Co that would fit as Wm's wife?   Now I'm under the impression that both brothers married an Anastatia? Also someone posted that Anastasia died in Charles County, but no one posted a year or source?  Are there any "other" Joseph Hamiltons or Anastasia Coombes' that I need to consider?   Some listers have Joseph's name as "Joseph Ignatius". Lamar Hamilton had these as two separate sons of John Hamilton, as an Ignatius Hamtilton died at age 35 with a Wm Hamilton as bondsman in 1774. (Test Proc Vol 45, f329) I can't vouch for this because I haven't seen this record. "Bond dated 1 March 1774. That is the first confirmation I had concerning his family. I forwarded that e-mail to the Graves Association and never heard from them. That is where I found the info that John Graves was his father, and not George! I was trying to get someone else's opinion on that info. It just seems to confirm what I thought. Diane: You best research stop should be the St. Mary's County Historical Society, "Tudor Hall," Leonardtown. They do have limited hours, so you might check them on line before you show-up on their door-step & find that they are closed. For wealth of information, this has to be your #1 stop. Wills, deeds, can be found at the St. Mary's County Courthouse, but most of the older ones {IF they survived the 1831 fire & still exist} would be at the Maryland Archives/Hall of Records in Annapolis & are PROBABLY available on microfilm via your local LDS Family History Center. It probably will be a better use of your time to do what you can at your local Family History Center before coming here. > I would appreciate any help you can give. 1. [MDSTMARY] Graves Family
    2. Diane B.
    3. I am new to the list and I have been searching for info on the various Graves families who once lived in St. Mary's Co. and migrated to Washington Co., KY. My Dr. William Samuel Graves was born in 1820, in Washington Co., KY. The only info I have on his parents came from a biography written about him. It said his parents came from St. Mary's Co., MD. His father was born in 1783 and died in 1844. His mother was born 1793 and died in 1866. I have found George Noble Graves (son of John Graves and Catherine Noble who migrated to KY about 1794/95) and Catherine Medley (daughter of John Medley who migrated before 1800). These two married in Washington Co., KY in 1810. Their birth and death dates match the ones in the bio. They had at least 11 children, and one of them was a William. They lived in a part of Washington Co. that later became Marion Co. I have been to both counties for research. I have been to St Charles church where other Graves are buried. I have contacted the Louisville diocese for baptism records. I have been to the Archives in Frankfort. I have had no luck, but I have been able to eliminate a few people as his parents. He had a nephew, Dr. James Graves, who may be the son of a Dr. John Graves. Another Graves researcher, whom I have been trying to contact, lists him as the son of John Graves and ?? Barnes. Some of her statements of fact I have found to be in error, and the priest that she says baptized my William, actually baptized his children. He became a priest after my William was born. According to his obit, "His father and mother were natives of Maryland, coming to Kentucky in 1795". I am hoping that someone on this list may be researching some Graves families. I have exhausted what resources I know about in KY. I am also planning a trip to St. Mary's Co. in June. If someone knows of some places I can go to search for wills and deeds, and perhaps if there is a library that has some family files that may have info on them. I want to see which Graves were doctors in MD also. I would appreciate any help you can give. Thank you, Diane
