    3. The only thing I can offer on the Tippetts is that I believe that Delilah Tippett was either the daughter or sister of Susanna Tippett. Susanna Tippett, b. 1794 m. James Foster, April 23, 1816. In 1850, Delilah's daughter, Caroline Rebecca Cahill was living with Susanna. I don't want to distract the discussion but it might help.....who was the Delilah Tippett who married William Cahill (see below). As we have talked about on the List, my Tippett ancestors intermarried with my Davis ancestors. And, those Davises were from Charles County (as were some of the folks listed below). Also, the family of Jeremiah Davis et al might be connected to the family of Cornelius ("Nealy") Davis who married Elizabeth Thompson (daughter of Bennett Thompson). Cornelius ("Nealy") Davis was also originally from Charles County, MD. His Davis ancestry has been just as elusive as the Davises named below. Cornelius ("nealy") Davis I was one of the witnesses at the marriage of my ancestor, Philip D. (probably "Davis") Tippett and Mary Ann Neale in 1832 in SMC. That has always made me think he was probably part of the Edward Davis "the elder" (d. 1764 in Charles County, MD)/Ann Reeder Davises. Thoughts? 2. John Dobricky
    3. Hi. Thoughts? 3. Thanks again for the info on the Davis family. I have a couple of questions about the data. 1. Jeremiah Jason Davis -- you say you have death date of July 19, 1908, I have July 18, 1908 and that is from the Burials from Tombstones, Grave Markers, and Church Registers of St. Mary's County MD (1634-1994). Is your source from the tombstone or death record? 2. You have Lydia Frances Davis b. June 12, 1863-Sep 5, 1980--is that 1880. She would have been 117 years old in 1980??? 2. Caroline Sophia Davis married to William Grove. Is this William Grove brother to Benjamin "Elmer" Grove who married Appelonia Davis??? 4. Thomas Wesley Lucas - you have born 1873. I believe that his birthday is 1/16/1881 based on WWI registration. I found him in 1920 census and it lists him, age 38. That would make him born about 1881/2. 5. I don't have any spouses for these. Do you have any for any of these? Children of Jeremiah Davis Elizabeth Ann (Bettie) Davis Mary Elizabeth Davis Jane Ellen Davis Jeremiah Jason Davis Walter Davis -- died young unmarried Rebecca Deliah Davis --unmarried Lydia Frances Davis -- think she died at 17--unmarried James Marshall Davis Appreciate your sharing info on this family. This is great. Patty Linda Reno wrote: > Pat, > > When I began working on my own family tree (my maiden name is Davis), I was > very interested in this family and still am. 3. Pat, When I began working on my own family tree (my maiden name is Davis), I was very interested in this family and still am. They were both affiliated with All Faith, lived in the same area (including Trent Hall) and the name Marshall was used in at least one of the children's names. Anna May (Dixon) Knott, wife of William Henry Knott (son of Georgeanna Davis) had a family bible from which I got much information. Still, this family is very elusive. Jeremiah Davis, born September 6, 1806 (I have a death date of March 8, 1887) married first Ann Eliza Huntington--license issued in St. Mary's Co., February 1, 1836. I have her as the daughter of Jeremiah Huntington and wife, Elizabeth of Charles County. By this first wife, he had all of the children you listed below, except Theophilius. Jeremiah Davis m. second, Caroline Rebecca Cahill, March 3, 1851 (license date). She was the daughter of William H. Cahill and Delilah Tippett. They were the parents of the other children you listed, but you should add Theophilius. I'm listing all of the children, but am noting only changes, etc. Children of Jeremiah Davis and Ann Eliza Huntington: 1. Zachariah Marshall Davis 2. Elizabeth Ann Davis 3. Mary Elizabeth Davis 4. Jane Ellen Davis 5. Jeremiah Jason Davis (I have a death date of July 19, 1908) Children of Jeremiah Davis and Caroline Rebecca Cahill: 1. Theophilius Davis. He died September 19, 1889. He married Ella R. Goodrick in Charles County, January 1, 1884 and they had two children: Thomas Levi Davis and Bishop Whittingham Davis 2. Walter Davis, b. 1853 and died February 1860. 3. Rebecca Delilah Davis 4. Georgeanna D. Davis, September 1861-November 20, 1941. She m. James Henry Knott at All Faith on December 26, 1883. 5. Lydia Frances Davis, June 12, 1863-September 5, 1980 6. Susanna V. Davis, b. March 26, 1866 qand died October 25, 1933. She m. James W. P. Milburn, November 26, 1894. 7. James Marshall Davis. He died January 28, 1951. 8. 1. Re: [MDSTMARY] Thomas SPALDING and Elizabeth MATTINGLY
    2. The early Spalding family expert is Pat Doster. We don't (as a rule) use what's on the LDS, worldtree, rootsweb websites. Much of the info there is copied or has no supporting documentation. The most reliable info is from Rutherford's manuscript on the Spalding family. Shirley Sent via BlackBerry by AT&T -----Original Message----- From: "Jerry L. 1. [MDSTMARY] Thomas SPALDING and Elizabeth MATTINGLY
    2. Jerry L. Clark
    3. Tom, Is the Thomas SPALDING that married Elizabeth MATTINGLY, is he the son of Thomas SPALDING who married Catherine COOPER? Looking at Rootsweb World Family tree- there are several different opinions. http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=1159&id=I03452 http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=t1049&id=I08103 http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=bgoode&id=I4436 and to be honest each of these parents had a son Thomas MATTINGLY, but since I have no approximate ages on these families and their children, I can't be certain what to believe. -----Original Message----- From: mdstmary-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:mdstmary-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Thomas Jennings Sent: Sunday, April 05, 2009 6:10 AM To: mdstmary@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [MDSTMARY] Zachariah Spalding who m.
