    3. Gayle, I think the some of the letters are not included in the indexes unless I missed them. I remeber a letter from an Abell c 1790 acsking someone to change rent on land for his sister. Never saw this in index. Also, a few letters & notes on Cornelius Wildman, one of my ancestros. 3. Thanks Tom, I am very envious of people who live in the Washington, D. C./Maryland area. There are so many great research opportunities there. I hired a great lady to take photos for me of the documents I was interested in at Georgetown and at the MD Archives, but it's not the same as doing your own research. There are a number of letters listed in the Georgetown index. I wonder if they are the same as those that used to be in the file cabinets? If anyone is interested in visiting Georgetown the following information might be useful. Keep in mind that the Special Collections are by appointment only. Georgetown University Library (The John Mark Lauinger Library) 37th & O Streets NW Washington DC20057-1174 202.687.7607 Special Collections ResearchCenter – 5th floor Below are the files in the index that I've been looking at. In my own ignorance, I had at one time thought that the Newtown ledger/Day book and Fr. Walton's diary were the same thing. Of course they're not (I find Fr. Walton much harder to read). Also, though it's on the index, you're no longer allowed to touch the original of the diary, only the photocopies. 3. Gayle, When I original worked on Fr. Walton's diary about 20 years ago and before everything was transferred to Georgetown, there was a large filing cabinet full of originally letters. Wish I had spent more time on the letters as I have never been able to track them down after the transfer. Some items at Georgetown now: I noted this "Cornelius Wildman's occupation was a bricklayer for he is listed as such in the 1710 land transaction when he bought "St. Edwards" from Luke Gardiner for 4 thousand pounds of Tobacco \ Georgetown Archives Box: 35 Fold: 14 Plats/Indentures, etc. [107 Z1-Z8] DATE SPAN: [01/01/1710]? - [12/31/1905]? DESCRIPTION: Items include the following: Agreement (1724/5) between George Thorold, S.J., and Edward Cole; Indenture (1710) between Edward Cole and Cornelius Wildman. These indexes are on-line. 1. Re: [MDSTMARY] Tattershall Kinsmen in Maryland -- Frances Tattershall's birth date doesn't work with either Edmund Tattershall or Edmund Smith.
    2. Mike Frances Tattershall, is a interesting lady. We find documents referring to her as Frances Kempe, Frances Weldon, Frances Chapell Frances Smith, & Frances Drew. There are few records for recusant births/deaths/weddings,etc in England during the reformation & the civil war era, for these underground Catholics avoided the government's civil instatutions, for obvious reasons. Therefore, dates are a seldom found. We found no records on Frances birth but we do find Edmund Tattershall, of Brooke mentioning Frances in a number of land records. Mainly to assure her siblings dispense lease moneys to her from Edmund's properties. There are no documents stating per say who Edmund Smith's parents are, just his Tattershall uncles. And other records associating William Smith of Whitechurch with Edmund and George Tattershall of Finchampstead. You should know that we have concluded that Edmund of Catmore is the same as person as Edmund of Brooke, based on land records. We also know that Edmund was a single man in 1586, and it appears that Edmund married 1st a lady named Grace, who we have assume is Frances, Edmund, of London and Katherine's Tattershall mother. > Randy, thanks for these summaries.
