At the top of the page, right next to the thing for message boards is mailing lists. Click that, and in the box for "Find a mailing list" type Lower Delmarva Roots. then subscribe. After you subscribe, post a message. Someone will answer you. As to the waterman thing - he would have worked his own boat or that of a friend or neighbor, as we still do today. Watermen are self-employed, and it is not an easy job. They generally leave at about 3:30 - 4:00 a.m. for work. Some farm also, but that is also a time consuming and difficult way to make a living. He Married Lillie Anne Vickers 19 Apr 1892. He was in one of the first classes at McDonogh Military Academy in Baltimore. He was the scheduler for the trolley cars in Baltimore at the turn of the last century. He died 19 Mar 1936. It is family-lore that his family were first or early settlers of the Eastern Shore of Maryland. He had 13 children including my grandmother, Gladys Elvira Morris-Garmer. He also had five sons that were Presbyterian Ministers. He appears in the 1880 census as a student at the McDonogh Academy. I am grateful for any information you may provide. Were I in your shoes I would bug Ancestry.com for a full list of sources that were indexed by Jackson's Accelerated Indexing Systems for this database. That listing must be in some dark corner somewhere. I suggest trying an email to Anne Mitchell, a manager in part responsible for Searching at Ancestry.com: amitchell at tgn.com Explain the situation concisely, give her a link to your listing as you did above, and also a link to this message-board thread. This is the sort of problem that tends to rename the PR division as the "Public Revulsion" department. Good luck. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
