Anybody know the history of Holden Chapel in QA? It's located a few miles north of Peters Corners (northeast of Sudlersville) -- I think the road it's on runs from Peters Corners to Crumpton. I've been there several times to check on family headstones (Peters, Hemmons) -- 1960 in fact, as a child to visit my mothers Uncle Norman Hemmons who helped care for the building & grounds and is now buried there.... More recently to take photos. Wondering the usual who, when, why questions. Any comments will be most welcome. Dave Nelson P.S. Dave I had recalled your post to the Queen Annes Co. list about this church last year and was curious if you had had any success in obtaining the answers? I have a FOGWELL buried there who is a ggggrand uncle and have been curious about the church as well. No, not really and I don't know much about Holden. I've been there several times... I have a photo of my grandfather and his brother taken there in 1936, visiting their mothers grave. I was led to understand that another of my grandfathers brothers was the caretaker for a number of years (Norman Hemmons), but I don't know if that's really true. And I know my Peters line, who gave their name to Peters Corners a few miles south of Holden, had at least one wedding there in the 1870's. That's about it.
